Roundup: Sydnie Hopkins’ scores game-winner for Basic with 5 minutes remaining

Sydnie Hopkins scored the go-ahead goal with five minutes remaining to lift Basic’s girls soccer team to a 2-1 home victory over Moapa Valley on Friday.

Hopkins’ goal was assisted by Min Gibson.

Darby Parise scored a first-half goal off an assist from Sabrina Moreira to give Basic a 1-0 halftime lead.

Alexis Schraft scored the equalizer in the second half for Moapa Valley.

Sierra Vista 8, Rancho 0 — At Sierra Vista, 14 Mountain Lions had a hand in a goal as they routed the Rams.

Makayla Gunderson had a goal and an assist for the Mountain Lions, who received goals from Courtney O’Neal, Juliana Isaziga, Grace Lasker, Emma Ziegler, Alexis McMurray, Michaela Budnick and Jasmine Trinidad.

Jamie Kalaau had two assists for the Mountain Lions, and made four saves as keeper in the first half. O’Neal recorded the other half of the shutout.

Green Valley 2, Tech 0 — At Green Valley, Maggie Bender assisted on both goals in the Gators’ victory over the Roadrunners.

Nadia Campbell and Jazlynn Hall scored the Gators’ goal.

Ryan Sabol recorded the shutout with one save.
