Tarr boots Valley girls soccer into postseason

Paige Tarr converted a penalty kick in the final minute Friday to help Valley’s girls soccer team clinch the last spot in the Division I Sunrise Region playoffs with a 2-1 win over Canyon Springs in a play-in match at Silverado.

The Pioneers drew first blood early in the second half before Tarr tied the match with just less than 15 minutes remaining.

Tarr then broke the tie by scoring on the penalty kick just before the final whistle.

Valley (4-10) will face Coronado (12-1-4) in the Sunrise Region quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Monday at Heritage Park.
