RECRUITING: Eldorado guard Clark gets offer from Loyola
March 4, 2009 - 8:05 pm
Eldorado guard Mitrell Clark entered his senior season on the radar of some college coaches.
But his stock has gone up after being named co-Most Valuable Player in the Northeast League, scoring 51 points in a Sunrise Region semifinal and carrying the Sundevils to the Class 4A state tournament.
The 5-foot-10-inch Clark recently received an offer from Loyola Marymount, and Central Michigan has expressed interest.
“I’m just hoping to be successful,” said Clark, whom LMU is recruiting as a shooting guard. “Anything is possible, but a four-year Division I college is what I’m striving for right now.”
Though he has yet to commit to Loyola Marymount, Clark said he “will be ready to sign” with the Lions after taking the SAT on March 14. He has passed the ACT.
The regular signing period for basketball runs from April 15 to May 20.
Updates on other seniors:
—Silverado forward Wade Collie visited Air Force last weekend but said Monday he has yet to commit.
Skyhawks coach Ron Childress said “that’s where he’s going to go,” adding the Falcons hope for Collie to play for their prep school next year.
“They’ve been wanting him for a long time,” Childress said of Collie, who drew earlier interest from Stanford.
Also, Childress said guard Ali Sabra plans to sign with Yavapai College (Ariz.).
—Durango coach DeShawn Henry said guard Marcus Falley is drawing interest from UC Riverside, Idaho, Division II Cal State Stanislaus and NAIA Xavier (La.).
Henry said swingman Dario Jokic is being looked at by Delaware State and NAIA Vanguard (Calif.).
