Gorman (39-4) turned back a determined and aggressive Reno (22-4) squad to claim its second state championship in three years with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-16 win.

Kirsten Kircher saved the first two penalty kicks of the shootout, and the Gaels prevailed 4-2 in the shootout in the Class 4A Desert Region championship game on Saturday at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex. The game was tied 2-2 after regulation and two overtime periods.

Gorman used its dominant front line to down the Cougars, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15. The Gaels’ march continues at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Regional final.
Alysa Caso scored two goals Thursday, including the game-winner with five minutes remaining, to lift Coronado past Desert Oasis, 3-2, in the Class 4A Mountain Region semifinals at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex.
Marcos Delgado scored in the 65th minute and Durango held on to defeat Bishop Gorman 1-0 at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex.
