Outlook: The Pioneers aren't often blessed with an overabundance of golfers, but Faranda is hoping to have depth this year.
"The Pioneers have the intention to field a full team this year and compete in conference play," Faranda said.
Mojave shut out Canyon Springs in the first half and rolled to the Class 4A football state championship at Allegiant Stadium.
Mojave meets Canyon Springs in the 4A state football final Tuesday at Allegiant Stadium, and the Rattlers will rely on a defense that’s produced six shutouts.
The matchups for all seven Nevada high school football state championship games are locked in, including a quadrupleheader Nov. 26 at Allegiant Stadium.
The Centennial girls held off Galena in the Class 4A state championship match, and Canyon Springs defeated Liberty for the boys title Saturday.
The Centennial girls soccer team scored in extra time to defeat Canyon Springs in a Class 4A Southern Region semifinal Wednesday.
There’s an opportunity for all Class 4A football teams to contend for a state title. Last year’s champion, Centennial, moved up to 5A Division III.
Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
Class 4A Southern Nevada high school basketball teams will face Northern teams for the state title after the classification was Southern-only the past two seasons.
High school football players from 14 high schools signed their national letter of intent to play in college. Athletes in other sports signed as well.
