The Patriots have won nine straight games after an 0-5 start and hope to win their first state football title in their fourth try when they meet Centennial on Saturday.

Centennial, which won one game two seasons ago, will play Desert Pines at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at Eldorado High School in the Class 4A state football semifinals.
Centennial outgained Palo Verde 354 to 158 yards, and the defense registered three interceptions and a safety in a 44-7 victory Friday night in the Mountain Region semifinals.
Bishop Gorman and Liberty will meet for the Desert Region championship Friday night. The Mountain Region semifinals match Palo Verde-Centennial and Arbor View-Desert Pines.

Faith Lutheran scored twice in the second half to defeat Galena. Coronado avenged its only loss with win over Centennial. Eldorado, Bishop Gorman advance to boys final.
Centennial running back Jordan Smith rushed for 226 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries Friday night as the Bulldogs advanced to the region semifinals.
Quincy Bonds had a goal and an assist, and the Centennial girls moved on. The Las Vegas boys fell short against Spanish Springs in a shootout after a 1-1 tie.
The Mountain Region playoffs begin Friday, and none of the higher seeds expect an easy quarterfinal matchup — not even the league champions who are facing No. 4 seeds.
