Valley cleaned up its mistakes and started attacking the middle of the Coronado defense as the Vikings rallied to take the match in five sets, 15-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-23, 16-14, to advance in the playoffs. The Vikings (16-8) will take on Green Valley at 5 p.m. Thursday at Foothill High School in the Sunrise semifinals.
Vernon Jackson won the long jump with ease with an effort of 23-2, and Silverado’s boys track team scored 43 points to take a 15-point lead over Green Valley after the first day of the Division I Sunrise Region meet at Del Sol.
