In a game that had all the suspense of a historical re-enactment, O’Bannon had 19 of his 26 points in the first quarter as the Gaels rolled to an 83-63 win over Coronado for the Division I state title at UNR’s Lawlor Events Center. It was the fifth consecutive large-school state title for Gorman (25-7).
Coronado switched to the zone after the first quarter, and Carson went more than seven minutes without a point as the Cougars rallied for a 53-43 victory in the Division I state semifinals at UNR’s Lawlor Events Center.

Coronado (21-4) won its first Sunrise Region title last week and will play in the state tournament for the first time when they meet Northern Region champ Carson (24-4) in the Division I semifinals at 8 p.m. Thursday at UNR’s Lawlor Events Center.

Jake DesJardins finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Coronado pulled away in the second half to earn a 64-55 victory Thursday in the Division I Sunrise Region semifinals at Liberty.
Alexandrea Hondo scored on a 15-yard touchdown run with a minute remaining Thursday as Coronado’s flag football team erased an 18-point deficit to upset Las Vegas, 33-30, in a Sunrise Region semifinal.
