Jared Smith carded his second straight 1-under-par 71 to easily win the Class 3A boys state golf tournament. He’s the first Western player to win the individual title since Joel Kijowski in 1996. Boulder City captured the team title for the first time since 2006, winning by one stroke over Spring Creek.
Smith shot a 1-under-par 71 at Mountain Falls on Monday to grab the lead at the midway point of the Class 3A state tournament at Mountain Falls.
Jordan Howden and Jamel Brown each won two individual events and led the Desert Pines boys track team to victory in the Class 3A Southern Region meet at Overton on Saturday.
Ashlyn Western won two individual events to help host Moapa Valley’s girls track team capture its first Class 3A Southern Region title Saturday.
