Tony Fields, a 6-foot-2-inch, 205-pound linebacker, has been one of the area’s most heavily recruited players this spring. Jorel Hingada’s RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning sparked a four-run rally as Bishop Gorman’s baseball team escaped with a 5-2 win at Cimarron-Memorial and clinched at least a share of the Division I Sunset League title on Monday.

As the fast runners headed for the tape, Christian Jackson of Palo Verde High took a hard tumble. Steven Walker thought somebody should do something. He picked up his fallen rival and they crossed the line together.

VOLLEYBALL: Palo Verde beats Gorman, locks up Southwest title

Grant Tingey had eight kills and three blocks, and Haden Van Orden dished out 44 assists Wednesday to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team wrap up the Division I Southwest League title with a 24-26, 26-24, 25-20, 18-25, 15-13 win over host Bishop Gorman.
