This is the final week of the regular season in the Class 4A Sunset Region, and the playoff picture looks like my 4-year-old cousin’s finger-painting. It’s a complete mess.

A look at some of the top performances for the week of Oct. 24 to Oct. 29.
Led by freshman Arien Fafard, the Northwest League’s second-seeded Panthers (21-15) stormed back after dropping the first two sets to knock off Sierra Vista, 18-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-7.
Four teams have locked up spots. Eight more remain alive for the other four spots, and the possibilities seem endless.
Centennial junior Alexis Gourrier won the Sunset regional cross country championship and helped the Bulldogs to the team title.
Green Valley senior Omar Rubio won the Sunrise regional cross country meet as the Gators coasted to the team championship.
Green Valley’s Rachel Klopfer had 20 kills, nine digs and four blocks, and Anya Olsen added 16 kills as the Gators upset visiting Silverado, 10-25, 25-14, 31-33, 25-19, 15-9 on Wednesday.
Yudi Alvarez scored a second-half goal to break a scoreless tie and lift Tech’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 home win over Moapa Valley on Wednesday.
Green Valley’s boys soccer team scored three goals in the second half Wednesday to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and beat host Silverado, 3-2.
Rachel Klopfer had 10 kills and 12 digs Monday to power the Green Valley girls volleyball team past Basic, 25-18, 25-9, 25-19.
Halle Watson and Savannah Villanueva each scored a goal for the Spring Valley girls soccer team Monday as the Grizzlies blanked Durango 2-0.
Kapono Maruyama scored midway through the first half, and Foothill’s boys soccer team held on for a 1-0 home win over Coronado on Monday.
Sierra Vista forced a fumble and recovered inside the 5-yard line on the first play of the fourth quarter, leading to the team’s only touchdown and a 10-7 road victory over Durango.
Sierra Vista (7-0, 4-0 Southwest League) travels to Durango (6-0, 3-0) at 7 p.m. Friday in a battle of surprisingly undefeated teams.
Mariah Moses had nine kills and an ace, and Cadie Espe added seven kills for Tech’s girls volleyball team in a 18-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-12, 15-5 victory over visiting Chaparral on Thursday.
