Class 3A: Ysabella Morales helps Mojave top Virgin Valley

Ysabella Morales went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs Tuesday to help host Mojave’s softball team to a 7-4 win over Virgin Valley in the opening round of the Class 3A Southern Region tournament.

Morales doubled home Alexa Castro with the first run in a six-run third inning that helped the Rattlers (11-7) erase an early 3-0 deficit.

Castro was 2-for-3 with a double, and Larissa Lynn was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Mojave, which will visit Moapa Valley (22-6) in a winners’ bracket semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kylie Cannon was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Savannah Price was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs (15-13), who will host Desert Pines (9-12) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Moapa Valley 19, Desert Pines 2 — At Overton, Abbie Evans went 1-for-2 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs as the Pirates took advantage of 11 walks and six Jaguar errors en route to a three-inning win.

Kessa Evans, Abbie Evans and Sierra Staheli each scored three runs for Moapa Valley, which had just seven hits.

Mireyah Ortiz was 2-for-2 and scored a run for Desert Pines.

Pahrump Valley 3, Chaparral 1 — At Pahrump, Amaya Mendoza tossed four solid innings with no earned runs and supplied an RBI double, as the Trojans edged the Cowboys.

Taylor Egan had a hit and an RBI for Pahrump (24-8), which will host Boulder City in a winners’ bracket semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ziarryiae Austin led Chaparral with two hits. The Cowboys (13-7) visit Western (10-13) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Boulder City 19, Western 0 — At Boulder City, Lily Osman went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and four RBIs as the Eagles routed the Warriors in three innings.

Ashley Wishard was 3-for-3 with three doubles, three runs and three RBIs for Boulder City. Ryann Reese was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI for the Eagles, who got two hits apiece from Jordan Moorhead, Jerra Hinson and winning pitcher Bailey Bennett-Jordan.

Bennett-Jordan limited the Warriors to one hit and struck out three.
