Pahranagat Valley’s softball team erupted for nine runs in the third inning to down Eureka 12-5 in the loser’s bracket final of the Division IV state tournament at UNR’s Hixson Park.
Reed’s Julia Jensen struck out 15, including 12 of the final 16 hitters, and led the Raiders to a 2-0 win over Rancho in a Division I state tournament opening-round game at UNR’s Hixson Park.

After being pulled earlier in the game when she got a little woozy in the heat, Kayla Coles re-entered and blasted a solo home run to help Rancho to an 8-0 win over Liberty in the Sunrise final at Bishop Gorman. It’s the first region title for Rancho, which will compete for its third state title next week in Reno.
Denman threw a six-hitter to help Shadow Ridge to a 4-3 win over Palo Verde in the Sunset final at Bishop Gorman. Shadow Ridge (30-5) advances to the state tournament next week in Reno.
