ROUNDUP: Aquinas edges Arbor View in final

Jessica Valenzuela’s first-inning double accounted for the game’s only run as Aquinas (Calif.) nipped Arbor View 1-0 in the championship game of the Sherm Bennett Memorial Classic Saturday in Mesquite.
The Falcons took advantage of a leadoff walk to start the game to score the run.
Allie Hotetz tossed a two-hitter with two strikeouts for Aquinas.
Chelsa Baca fired a three-hitter and struck out nine for the Aggies.
Arbor View 8, Cheyenne 0 — At Mesquite, Letty Valenzuela went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs, including a first-inning grand slam, and tossed a five-inning three-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead the Aggies by the Desert Shields in the Sherm Bennett Memorial Classic.
Jessica Rivera was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Dacia Sykes added a home run for the Aggies.
Lincoln County 9, Cheyenne 5 — At Mesquite, the Lynx scored four runs in the top of the third to break a 5-5 tie and held on for the three-inning win in the Sherm Bennett Memorial Classic.
Faith Lutheran 7, Legacy 6 — At Needles, Calif., Lauryn Lipe’s two-out single in the top of the seventh plated the go-ahead run as the Crusaders topped the Longhorns in the Colorado River Invitational.
Lipe was 2-for-4, and Alex Wright went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.
Faith Lutheran 12, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Needles, Calif., Kelly Zufall went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to help the Crusaders to the four-inning win in the Colorado River Invitational.
Lili Bonora was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran, which scored eight runs in the bottom of the first.
Yuma (Ariz.) 9, Faith Lutheran 3 — At Needles, Calif., the Criminals scored six runs in the bottom of the second on the way to the win over the Crusaders in the Colorado River Invitational.
Nicole Thompson was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran.
White Pine 7, Mountain View 4 — At Needles, Calif., Teal Hussey smacked a first-inning grand slam to lead the Bobcats by the Saints in three innings in the Colorado River Invitational.
Bailey Moore added a two-run homer in the second inning for White Pine, which limited Mountain View to two hits.
Yucca Valley (Calif.) 15, Tech 9 — At Needles, Calif., Yucca Valley scored 10 second-inning runs on the way to the win in the Colorado River Invitational.
Tech’s Ashley Ramsey had a double and three RBIs, and Jamison Bascom, Emmalyne Laymon and Sabrina Sawyer each added two hits for the Roadrunners.
Needles 12, Tech 2 — At Needles, Calif., Alissa Rentas hit a three-run home run to power the Musangs over the Roadrunners in the Colorado River Invitational.
Kimmie Rodriguez was 2-for-2, and Laymon added an RBI single for Tech.
Coronado 7, Farmington (N.M.) 0 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Danielle Amato spun a five-inning four-hitter to lead the Cougars by the Scorpions in the Tournament of Champions.
Brooke Younie was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Kiley Harrison went 2-for-3 for Coronado. Basia Query was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
California (Calif.) 5, Coronado 1 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Brigid Ruiz blasted a two-run home run in the fourth inning and added a three-run shot in the fifth to propel the Condors by the Cougars in the Tournament of Champions.
Alex Battest was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run for Coronado.
Centennial 3, Rio Rancho (N.M.) 1 — At Bullhead City, Ariz,. Lacie Chakos’ two-run single to right capped a three-run fifth inning and helped the Bulldogs top the Rams in the Tournament of Champions.
Savannah Horvath had an RBI double in the inning for Centennial, and teammate Mia Acuna was 2-for-4.
Taylor Huntly tossed a three-hitter for the Bulldogs.
Woodbridge (Calif.) 1, Centennial 0 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Aryn Guzman tossed a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts and belted a first-inning home run to lead the Warriors by the Bulldogs in the Tournament of Champions.
Heather Bowen went 1-for-2 for Centennial.
Kate Rauskin spun a six-hitter for the Bulldogs.
West Wendover 18, The Meadows 1 — At The Meadows, the Wolverines scored eight runs in the second to pull away for the victory in The Meadows Tournament.
Pahrump Valley JV 20, The Meadows 2 — At The Meadows, the Trojans junior varsity scored nine runs in the first on the way to the easy win in The Meadows Tournament.
Wells 15, The Meadows 3 — At The Meadows, The Leopards scored five runs in each inning on the way to the three-inning victory at The Meadows Tournament.
West Wendover 19, Sandy Valley 1 — At The Meadows, the Wolverines limited the Sidewinders to one hit en route to the win at The Meadows Tournament.
Pahrump Valley JV 12, Sandy Valley 3 — At The Meadows, the Trojans junior varsity had five doubles on the way to the win in The Meadows Tournament.
