Roundup: Arbor View wins pair at Battle of the Bats

Torii Forsberg went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs as host Arbor View’s softball team routed Las Vegas in four innings at the Battle of the Bats Tournament, 16-3 on Thursday.

Lileya Kebos went 3-for-4 with three runs for Arbor View.

Nicole Forrest hit a two-run homer for Las Vegas.

Arbor View 8, Rancho 3 — At Rancho, Roxanne Ines went 2-for-2 with a run as the Aggies beat the Rams in the Battle of the Bats Tournament.

Liliana Gutierrez had a two-run home run for Rancho.

Cimarron-Memorial 15, Spring Valley 2 — At Rancho, Mya’Liah Bethea was 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs, as the Spartans routed the Grizzlies in four innings in the Battle of the Bats Tournament.

Diona Whitley, Kylie Sharapan, Shelby Telford and Tiarra Del Rosario each supplied two hits for Cimarron. Nikki LaBounty went the distance to pick up the win.

Talya Ushakoff went 2-for-2 to pace Spring Valley.

Spring Valley 14, Valley 2 — At Rancho, Madison Hood fired a four-inning one-hitter and tripled at the plate, as the Grizzlies rolled past the Vikings at the Battle of the Bats Tournament.

Talya Ushakoff went 2-for-3 with a double for Spring Valley.

Abigail Medina supplied Valley’s lone single.

Rancho 10, Las Vegas 3 — At Rancho, Samantha Paiva went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to power the Rams past the Wildcats.

Giselle Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a two-run triple for Rancho. Liliana Gutierrez earned the win in the circle and belted a two-run home run for the Rams.

Kaitlyn Horstdaniel and Midajah Chavira each had two hits to lead Las Vegas.

Cimarron-Memorial 19, Valley 5 — At Rancho, Tiarra Del Rosario was 3-for-4, as the Spartans defeated the Vikings at the Battle of the Bats Tournament.

Iyari Ramirez had two hits for Cimarron, which got the win from Destiney Guerrero.

Gabriella Morales supplied two hits, and teammate Brandee Whittfield contributed a two-run double and two stolen bases to lead Valley.

Tournament of Champions

Palo Verde 4, Foothill 3 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Panthers scored three runs in the top of the fifth and held off the Falcons.

Samantha Wade drove in two runs for Palo Verde, which broke a 1-1 tie with it’s fifth-inning outburst.

Jocelyn Shupp drove in two runs for Foothill, which scored twice in the bottom of the fifth.

Lakewood (Calif.) 3, Coronado 1 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Lancers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to top the Cougars.

Ashley Ward was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Coronado. Tatum Spangler went the distance, allowing three unearned runs on six hits with six strikeouts for the Cougars.

La Mirada (Calif.) 6, Centennial 5 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Matadores scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to top the Bulldogs in the Tournament of Champions.

Deanna Barrera had four RBIs for Centennial, which scored five times in the top of the first.

Hamilton (Ariz.) 9, Basic 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Huskies no-hit the Wolves to earn the shutout and advance in the tournament.

Lady Devils Tournament

Eldorado 15, Tech 0 — At Eldorado, Adriana Romero was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and also pitched three shutout innings to help the Sundevils to the three-inning win over the Roadrunners.

Romero allowed one hit and struck out five.

Heather Holman was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Yamileth Martinez and Mariana Maldonado each drove in two runs for Eldorado.

Eldorado 17, Del Sol 2 — At Eldorado, Holman pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight to help the Sundevils to the four-inning win over the Dragons.

Holman allowed two unearned runs and walked three. She also went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.

Romero went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Harlee Salazar was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Eldorado, which got four RBIs from Veronica Velasquez.

Colorado River Invitational

Boulder City 6, Holbrook (Ariz.) 0 — At Needles, California, Bailey Bennett-Jordan fired a one-hitter as the Eagles beat the Roadrunners.

Bennett-Jordan struck out four and walked four.

Ryann Reese went 3-for-3 with three runs, and Lily Osman was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Boulder City.

Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 10, Boulder City 9 — At Needles, California, Brooke Echard went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as the Yellowjackets edged the Eagles.

Ashley Wishard was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs to lead Boulder City.

Ellie Ramsey and Jordan Moorhead each went 2-for-2 for the Eagles.

Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 5, Needles 4 — At Needles, California, the Yellowjackets rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth to beat the Mustangs.

Meela Noriega’s two-run homer tied the game, and Izabella Rivera had an RBI single to win it.

Paige Murch and Riley Breaux each had a home run for Needles.

Silverado 10, Needles 1 — At Needles, California, Megan Johnson hit a two-run home run in the Skyhawks’ four-inning victory over the Mustangs.

Meleah River threw a complete game to get the win for Silverado.

Paige Murch went 2-for-2 for Needles, and Preslee Murch went 2-for-3.

Coachella Valley (Calif.) 11, Legacy 2 — At Needles, California, the Arabs beat the Longhorns in four innings.

Clarissa Lona and Kaleah Alapati each had a triple for Legacy.

Desert Winds Tournament

Moapa Valley 9, Aquinas (Calif.) 7 — At Mesquite, Emilie Barraza went 2-for-3 with an RBI and pitched a complete game as the Pirates downed the Falcons.

Aria Messer had three RBIs for the Pirates, and Lainey Cornwall had a hit and an RBI.

Virgin Valley 6, Lincoln County 1 — At Mesquite, Taylor Barnum had two hits and four RBIs to lead the Bulldogs to a five-inning win over the Lynx.

Calee Clem added two hits, and Savannah Price threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Virgin Valley.
