Roundup: Ashley Ward hits, pitches Coronado past Gila Ridge

Ashley Ward tossed a six-inning one-hitter and went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBIs Thursday to lead Coronado’s softball team to a season-opening 3-0 win over Gila Ridge (Ariz.) in the Tournament of Champions in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Kaila Angel added a double for Coronado.
Perry (Ariz.) 7, Coronado 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Chloe Krason belted two home runs to lift the Pumas by the Cougars in five innings.
Jennifer Singh added a home run for Perry.
Saige Stutz limited the Cougars to three singles.
Cleveland (N.M.) 4, Basic 3 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Storm scored the winning run on a two-out bloop single to edge the Wolves in the Tournament of Champions.
Cleveland’s Aalijah Alarcon blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game and force a tiebreaker inning after the teams passed the tournament time limit.
Basic scored once in its half of the seventh on Anastasia Stevens’ RBI single before the Storm plated the tying and winning runs.
Mikayla Berg was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Basic.
Cibola (Ariz.) 6, Foothill 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Kelly Katalbas spun a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 as the Raiders downed the Falcons in the Tournament of Champions.
Christina Robles and Angela Oros each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Cibola, which scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings before putting the game away with a three-run fifth.
Morgan Matsumoto was 2-for-3 for Foothill.
Cienega (Ariz.) 7, Palo Verde 2 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Bobcats slammed three homers and topped the Panthers in the Tournament of Champions.
Marisa Olvera, Emily Rodriguez and Blaise Bringer each homered for Cienega.
Alyssa Libert had a homer and two RBIs for Palo Verde.
Cheyenne 16, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Madelyn Kennedy tossed a shutout as the Desert Shields blitzed the Miners in three innings.
Iraliya Ferreira was 3-for-3 with a double and a home run for Cheyenne, which got two hits apiece from Autumn Shulkusky and Maria Borrero.
Remmy Solis supplied a triple for Sunrise Mountain.
Colorado River Invitational
Boulder City 16, Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 5 — At Needles, California, Paeton Carver went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to help the Eagles top the Yellowjackets.
Natalie Bowman went 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs, and Lily Hood was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Boulder City.
Rose Mackey went 2-for-3, and Ryann Reese was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Eagles.
Chino Valley (Ariz.) 12, Boulder City 2 — At Needles, California, Angelina Kirkpatrick went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs to power the Cougars by the Eagles in five innings.
Reese was 1-for-1 for Boulder City.
Rancho 14, Williams (Ariz.) 0 — At Needles, California, MacKenzie Perry tossed a perfect three innings with seven strikeouts, and doubled twice to drive home three runs, as the Rams blanked the Vikings.
Liliana Gutierrez and Bryana Gonzales each had a home run for Rancho, which got two hits from Sierra Crane.
Silverado 9, Williams (Ariz.) 3 — At Needles, California, winning pitcher Katie Carder was 1-for-1 with a double, three runs and an RBI as the Skyhawks topped the Vikings in four innings.
Carder spun a three-hitter and struck out three.
Mikayla Capers was 1-for-1 and scored twice for Silverado.
Silverado 12, Cathedral City (Calif.) 0 — At Needles, California, Ava Montoya went 2-for-2 with four RBIs as the Skyhawks routed the Lions in three innings.
Anna Tucker was 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Silverado.
Coachella Valley (Calif.) 6, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Needles, California, winning pitcher Paula Martinez went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and the Arabs scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to edge the Crusaders in a four-inning game.
Kalsey Kekahuna-Lopes was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.
Pahrump Valley 8, Coachella Valley (Calif.) 7 — At Needles, California, Allyson Rily was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run in a three-inning win over the Arabs in the Colorado River Invitational.
Rily also went the distance to get the win.
Faith Lutheran 5, Lee Williams (Ariz.) 0 — At Needles, California, the Crusaders won by forfeit.
Pahrump Valley 5, Lee Williams (Ariz.) 0 — At Needles, California, the Trojans won by forfeit.
Sundevil Invitational
Eldorado 14, Desert Pines 0 — At Eldorado, Esmeralda Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help the Sundevils rout the Jaguars in five innings in the Sundevil Invitational.
Harlee Salazar and Adriana Romero each went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Eldorado, which took advantage of 13 walks.
Salazar and Romero combined on a two-hitter.
Del Sol 10, Desert Pines 9 — At Eldorado, the Dragons scored 10 runs on two hits to down the Jaguars.
Jocelyn Bailon had a single, double and triple to lead the Jaguars.
Western 14, Canyon Springs 11 — At Western, Natalie Arredondo belted two home runs to help the Warriors rally past the Pioneers.
Alyssa Rodriguez and Adriana Jones each had three hits, and Alexis Cho homered for Western, which gave up 10 runs in the first inning.
Canyon Springs 16, Clark 10 — At Western, Skylah McDowell was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs to lead the Pioneers to the four-inning victory over the Chargers in the Sundevil Invitational.
Verenice Cruz-Lopez went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Tyra Caliva was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs for Canyon Springs.
Crystal Goodwin, Stepanie Cervantes and Hazal Lopez-Anguiano each had two hits for the Pioneers.
Noemi Barriga was 2-for-2 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs, and Alyssa Clara was 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs for Clark.
Spartan Slugfest
Cimarron-Memorial 20, Valley 0 — At Cimarron, Mya’Liah Bethea went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four runs and four RBIs as the Spartans routed the Vikings in three innings in the Spartan Slugfest.
Tiarra Del Rosario went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Olivia Rodriguez was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs for Cimarron.
Nikki LaBounty and Del Rosario combined to allow no hits and strike out four.
