Roundup: Ayanna Potter’s grand slam helps Rancho to win

Rancho’s Ayanna Potter hit a grand slam on Friday to lead the Rams to a 13-0, five-inning home win over Canyon Springs.

Alex Abina threw a three-hitter to earn the victory. Liliana Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a double, and Alexa Lira and Giselle Ramirez each hit a double for the Rams.

Rancho’s Yvette Sanchez was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Canyon Springs’ Skylah McDowell went 2-for-3.

Kick Off the Season Tournament

Bishop Manogue 11, Arbor View 1 — At Bishop Gorman, Hannah Blas threw a one-hitter as the Miners beat the Aggies in four innings.

Arbor View 11, Damonte Ranch 3 — At Bishop Gorman, Roxanne Ines was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two stolen bases as the Aggies beat the Mustangs in five innings.

Irelyn Richards was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Taylor Day went 2-for-3 with two runs for Arbor View.

West (Utah) 11, Bishop Gorman 7 — At Gorman, Kalena Shepherd went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs as the Panthers beat the Gaels in five innings.

Mia Weckel went 2-for-3 for Gorman.

Clovis (Calif.) 8, Bishop Gorman 2 — At Gorman, Jordyn Martinez doubled twice, and winning pitcher Allie Puente had a home run as the Cougars beat the Gaels.

Hayley Coreas and Nycole Cootes each had a double for Gorman.

Torrance National Tournament

Orange Lutheran (Calif.) 5, Centennial 0 — At Torrance, California, Mia Bagatorian spun a two-hitter to lead the Lancers over the Buldogs in six innings.

Bagatorian struck out seven and walked two.

Deanna Barrera and Tatum Huntly each had a single for Centennial.

Carson (Calif.) 8, Coronado 3 — At Torrance, California, Justine Diaz had a grand slam to highlight a five-run seventh inning as the Colts topped the Cougars.

Coronado’s Tatum Spangler hit a pair of solo home runs, and Aleah Baldonado added a double and an RBI for the Cougars.

Los Altos (Calif.) 13, Palo Verde 3 — At Torrance, California, Savannah Diedrich had two homers and four RBIs, and Brianna Santos hit a grand slam to lead the Eagles a five-inning win over the Panthers in the National Tournament.

Diedrich also went the distance to pick up the win. She allowed one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts.

Kendall Hopkins went 1-for-2 with three RBIs for Palo Verde.

Wilson (Calif.) 2, Basic 1 — At Torrance, California, Katelyn Howard’s two-run single in the top of the fourth gave the Bruins the win over the Wolves.

Shelby Basso was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Basic, which scored in the bottom of the first.

Basso also went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out four.

Joette Vega threw a five-hitter with nine strikeouts to get the win for Wilson.

March Warm-Up Tournament

Boulder City 13, South Summit (Utah) 12 — At St. George, Utah, Lily Osman and Ashley Wishard both scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Eagles a six-inning win over the Wildcats.

Ryann Reese went 3-for-4 with three runs to lead Boulder City. Ellie Ramsey and Jordan Moorhead each went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Eagles.

Bailee Crnich had a double and a home run for South Summit, which scored a run in the top of the seventh to take a 12-11 lead.

Knight (Calif.) 15, Boulder City 0 — At. St. George, Utah, the Hawks limited the Eagles to one hit to earn the four-inning win.

Cedar (Utah) 17, Boulder City 5 — At St. George, Utah, Kelsi Oldroyd was 4-for-6 with six RBIs and three runs as the Redmen beat the Eagles.

Osman went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Boulder City. Marleena Mills was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for the Eagles, who gave up eight runs in the top of the seventh.

Hurricane (Utah) 8, Eldorado 2 — At St. George, Utah, Chantelle Pearson threw a a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Tigers to the six-inning win over the Sundevils.

Veronica Velasquez went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Eldorado.

Morgan (Utah) 17, Eldorado 13 — At St. George, Utah, Karly Peterson was 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs as the Trojans beat the Sundevils in six innings.

Taylor Pickrell was 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer for Morgan, which scored six runs in the sixth to take a 17-10 lead.

Kerri Nasife went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to lead Eldorado. Heather Holman went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Roshanda Stevens went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Sundevils.

Mariana Maldonado added a home run and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Eldorado 17, North Sevier (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, Kerri Nasife went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to help the Sundevils to the five-inning win over the Wolves in the March Warm-Up Tournament.

Heather Holman went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Mariana Maldonado and Roshanda Stevens each went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Winning pitcher Adriana Romero had a double and four RBIs. She allowed one earned run on four hits in four innings. Romero struck out eight with one walk.

Skyline (Utah) 15, The Meadows 5 — At St. George, Utah, Diane Van went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs to lead the Eagles over the Mustangs.

Korinne Oder went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for The Meadows.

Hallie Monkarsh and Amelia Heimerman each went 2-for-2 for the Mustangs.

Judge Memorial (Utah) 17, The Meadows 1 — At St. George, Utah, Alex Soran homered and drove in three runs as the Bulldogs beat the Mustangs in three innings.

Hallie Monkarsh hit a solo home run for The Meadows.

Spring Slam

Indian Springs 21, Lake Mead 10 — At Mountain View, Aspen Avery went 5-for-5 with four doubles, a home run and six RBIs as the Thunderbirds routed the Eagles in four innings.

Kayla Noyes was 3-for-5 with two triples, five runs and two RBIs, and Faith Prine went 2-for-4 with a triple, four runs and two RBIs for Indian Springs.

Josey White was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Lake Mead, which committed 16 errors.
