ROUNDUP: Canyon Springs erases 5-0 deficit, nips Eldorado

Marquee Velasquez raced home with the go-ahead run on Amber Day’s fielder’s choice in the fifth inning, and Canyon Springs’ softball team rallied from a 5-0 first-inning deficit to defeat Eldorado 6-5 on Thursday.
Fernanda Alfaro doubled and scored the tying run in the fifth. Velasquez and Day each scored two runs, and Alicia Tuala had two hits for Canyon Springs.
Megan Jaramillo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for Eldorado. 
Valley 12, Desert Pines 2 — At Valley, Lucelly Arias was 3-for-3 with five RBIs to carry the Vikings to a five-inning win.
Vanessa Corona had two hits and had three runs for Valley, which scored five in the first inning.
Las Vegas 14, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Brianna Guzman was 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI to lead the Wildcats to a five-inning rout of the Cowboys.
Tiffani Taylor got the win and was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Kristen Pullium had three hits and Chelsea Lewis, Sabrina Anderson and Hayli Rochell supplied two each.
Sierra Vista 16, Pahrump Valley 15 — At Sierra Vista, Kaylene Sales and Breianna Koester scored on a fielder’s choice in the 12th and the Mountain Lions outlasted Pahrump in a game suspended by darkness in the 11th inning March 27.
Pahrump scored once in the bottom of the 12th and had runners at the corners with two outs, but Sierra Vista pitcher Maria Capparelli induced a popout to end the game.
Capparelli was 4-for-7. Tayler Aleman had three hits and five RBIs, including a three-run triple in the seventh.
Also for Sierra Vista, Ashley Krumme was 3-for-7 with three runs, and Alexis Land was 2-for-4.
Becca Gamble hit two home runs for the Trojans. Tranyce Rankin also homered, and Casey Scheller was 3-for-5.
Pahrump Valley 17, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, Taylor Raymer, Destini Codera, Scheller and Gamble had two hits each, and the Trojans broke open the teams’ regularly-scheduled game with six runs in the third and fourth innings.
Codera tossed a five-hitter.
 
Capparelli went 2-for-2 for Sierra Vista.
Durango 12, Spring Valley 2 — At Durango, Nicole Herrera pitched a five-hitter and had eight strikeouts to lead the Trailblazers to a five-inning victory over Grizzlies.
Jaexie Balilea was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Katie Moore went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Durango. Herrera, Ashley Hall and Taylor Short added two hits each.
For Spring Valley, Jasmine Wilson and Sarah Steuber went 2-for-3.
Bishop Gorman 14, Western 3 — At Western, the Gaels scored 11 runs in the first inning and ended a 12-game losing streak, beating the Warriors in five innings.
Mary Essa was 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Bishop Gorman.
Cimarron-Memorial 8, Bonanza 5 — At Cimarron, Nora Murphy hit a three-run homer in the third inning and added a two-run blast in the sixth to lead the Spartans over the Bengals.
Vanessa Gonzalez went 3-for-3 and Jessica White added two RBIs for Cimarron.
Bonanza’s Emily Osborn went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Nicolette Lind was 3-for-4.
Green Valley 12, Basic 3— At Green Valley, Alicia Firelein pitched a complete game with four strikeouts to lead the Gators past the Wolves.
Carly Smith went 2-for-4 and scored twice, and Lace Jordan went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.
Basic’s Lacey Romo was 2-for-4.
Needles 8-7, Mountain View 2-1 — At Mountain View, Lexi Baldwin was 5-for-10 with a double and two triples to lead the Mustangs to a sweep.
Alex Chandler threw a two-hitter in the second game.
