ROUNDUP: Canyon Springs rallies past Chaparral for softball win

Marquee Velasquez doubled home Dari Carter with the winning run in a two-run bottom of the seventh inning Friday as Canyon Springs’ softball team rallied for an 8-7 win over visiting Chaparral.

Carter, who was 3-for-4, had an RBI double to tie the game. Velasquez followed with the game-ending hit and finished 3-for-3.

Las Vegas 16, Rancho 2 — At Rancho, Kristen Pulliam went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Las Vegas scored four runs in the fourth inning and nine in the fifth to pull away from the Rams.

Chelsea Lewis and Monique Hernandez each went 4-for-4 for the Wildcats. One of Lewis’ hits was a triple.

Amber Marlett was 2-for-2 with a double for Rancho.

Clark 5, Bishop Gorman 1 — At Clark, Elisa Dawson pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Chargers past the Gaels.

Jasmine Fukuda (two doubles, one RBI) and Anna Jaehn both went 3-for-4 for Clark.

Pahrump Valley 13, Desert Oasis 5 — At Pahrump Valley, Karen Daun went 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead the Trojans past the Diamondbacks.

Nicole Liakos had a home run for Desert Oasis.

Spring Valley 19, Western 3 — At Western, Katie Campo hit for the cycle with four RBIs and four runs as the Grizzlies beat the Warriors.

Campo finished 4-for-5. Laura Perri was 3-for-3 with three runs for Spring Valley.

Virgin Valley 7-7, Moapa Valley 3-6 — At Overton, the Bulldogs edged the Pirates in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep.

Calvary Chapel 6-1, Lincoln County 4-5 — At Calvary Chapel, the Lions won the opener in 10 innings before falling in the second game.

White Pine 7-11, Mountain View 3-10 — At Ely, the Bobcats outlasted the Saints in the second game of a doubleheader sweep.

West Wendover 15-24, The Meadows 5-11 — At The Meadows, Nyssa Salazar was 5-for-5 with a double for the Wolverines in their doubleheader sweep of the Mustangs.

Tonopah 21-21, Sandy Valley 4-3 — At Tonopah, the Muckers routed the Sidewinders in both games of a doubleheader.

Britney Klapper tossed a two-hitter to lead Tonopah in the first game, while teammate Hartley Maughan homered in both games.

Pahranagat Valley 9-14, Beatty 0-0 — At Alamo, Addie Canning pitched a pair of two-hitters to lead the Panthers to a sweep of the Hornets.

Canning struck out 11 in the first game and three in the second, which lasted five innings.

Molly Hansen and Chanae Canning both went 2-for-3 in the first game for Pahranagat Valley.

In the second game, the Panthers’ Tami Spencer was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and four RBIs. Chanae Canning went 2-for-2.

Calvary Chapel 6-1, Lincoln County 4-6 — At Calvary Chapel, Jamie Schmidt had an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning in the opener, breaking a 4-4 tie and helping the Lions to a split of a doubleheader.

Schmidt, who tossed a two-hitter, doubled home Anna Duerden and scored on a ground out to give the Lions a two-run lead.

Duerden was 4-for-5 with a double.

Lincoln County’s Michelle Wheatley homered in the opener.

In the nightcap, Mary Culverwell and Wheatley each went 3-for-4, and the Lynx scored four runs in the first inning.

Duerden and Lauren Feigler each went 2-for-3 and Kaitlyn Ulrich 2-for-4 for Calvary Chapel.
