Roundup: Desert Oasis takes out Silverado to win tournament

Holly Severence homered and drove in three runs Saturday to help the Desert Oasis softball team beat Silverado 14-6 in six innings in the championship game of the Colorado River Invitational in Needles, California.

Jada Moreno went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Makayla Rickard drove in three runs for the Diamondbacks.

Meaghan McInerney and Hailey Jaramillo each added two RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Megan Johnson went 3-for-3 with two homers and four RBIs for Silverado. Dalyse Whitside, Alexa Ostolaza and Megan Thomas each added two hits for the Skyhawks.

Silverado 8, Coachella Valley (Calif.) 2 — At Needles, California, Meleah Rivera was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as the Skyhawks beat the Arabs in five innings to move into the championship game.

Megan Johnson went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs for Silverado. Rivera also went the distance, scattering five hits and striking out four, to get the win.

Desert Oais 9, Durango 1 — At Needles, California, Rickard hit a pair of two-run homers to power the Diamondbacks over the Trailblazers in the semifinals.

McInerney added a two-run homer, and Izriah Hodson had two doubles for Desert Oasis.

Kaitlin Fazendin and Trinity Valentine each doubled ofr Durango.

Silverado 6, Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 3 — At Needles, California, Megan Johnson was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs to lead the Skyhawks over the Yellowjackets.

Alexa Ostolaza added two RBIs, and Kathryn Carder didn’t allow an earned run in four innings to get the win.

Desert Oasis 7, Boulder City 0 — At Needles, California, McInerney went 3-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Diamondbacks over the Eagles in five innings.

Izriah Hodson doubled and scored twice, and Alexus Marquez went 2-for-2 with a run for Desert Oasis.

Jordyn Compehos threw a six-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks to get the win

Boulder City 9, Chino Valley (Ariz.) 2 — At Needles, California, Jerra Hinson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Cougars.

Ashley Wisherd went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Boulder City, and Ryann Reese and Ellie Ramsey each added two hits for the Eagles.

Holbrook (Ariz.) 16, Needles 11 — At Needles, California, the Roadrunners scored 12 runs in the top of the third, then held off the Mustangs for a three-inning win.

All 11 of Needles runs came with two outs in the bottom of the third.

Paige Murch homered for Needles.

Battle of the Bats

Cimarron-Memorial 8, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Kylie Sharapan threw a one-hitter and hit a double to lead the Spartans past the Rams for the Battle of the Bats title in a game shortened to three innings by darkness.

Mya’Liah Bethea was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Cimarron, and Tiarra Del Rosario and Angie Chin each with 2-for-2 for the Spartans.

Rancho 8, Arbor View 6 — At Rancho, Bryana Gonzales went 2-for-2 with two double and three RBIs to lead the Rams past the Aggies to advance to the championship game.

Yvette Sanchez was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Rancho.

Lileya Kebos went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run to lead Arbor View.

Cimarron-Memorial 15, Arbor View 3 — At Rancho, Bethea went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs to power the Spartans past the Aggies and into the title game.

Skylar Smith was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run for Cimarron.

Rancho 6, Las Vegas 5 — At Rancho, Gianna Carosone’s two-run triple with two outs in the bottom of the eighth gave the Rams the win over the Wildcats.

Carosone was 3-for-4 with a double and a tripl, an dLiliana Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a run for Rancho.

Kaitlyn Horstdaniel was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run to pace Las Vegas. Nicole Forest added two hits for the Wildcats.

Rancho 20, Spring Valley 5 — At Rancho, Ayanna Potter was 3-for-3 with three triples, five RBIs and three runs as the Rams routed the Grizzlies in four innings.

Carosone went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, and Kaitlyn Suarez was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Rancho.

Winning pitcher MacKenzie Perry went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.

Chryshelle Abril-Ryan was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Lady Devils Tournament

Eldorado 12, Del Sol 2 — At Eldorado, Mariana Maldonado went 2-for-2 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs to help the Sundevils beat the Dragons in five innings for the title.

Heather Holman was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Eldorado, which scored 10 times in the fourth inning. Adriana Romero was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and teammate Roshanda Stevens went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Eldorado.

Romero pitched 4⅓ shutout innings of relief with seven strikeouts to get the win.

Noa Bowie was 2-for-2 for Del Sol.

Eldorado 15, Canyon Springs 0 — At Eldorado, Roshanda Stevens went 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBIs and a run as the Sundevils routed the Pioneers in three innings.

Mariana Maldonado went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs, and Kerri Nasife, Heather Holman and Adriana Romero each added two hits for Eldorado.

Romero allowed one hit and struck out seven in three innings to get the win.

Hazal Lopez-Anguiano had the lone hit for Canyon Springs.

Del Sol 9, Western 7 — At Eldorado, the Dragons scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to top the Warriors in five innings in the other semifinal.

Jazmine Rivera, Selena Erickson, Yaneli Rodriguez and Saleena Quichocho each had a double for Del Sol.

Alexis Cho doubled twice for Western.

Del Sol 10, Tech 6 — At Eldorado, the Dragons scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take an 8-6 lead and held on to beat the Roadrunners.

Angel Jones doubled for Del Sol. Melissa Fuller had a double for Tech.

Canyon Springs 12, Clark 11 — At Eldorado, the Pioneers had just one hit in the game, but managed to edge the Chargers.

Canyon Springs scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to pull out the win in the three-inning game.

Tournament of Champions

Coronado 4, Downey (Calif.) 3 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Tori Jones hit a two-run double in the top of the fifth as the Cougars came from behind to beat the Vikings.

Tatum Spangler walked to lead off the inning and went to third on a ground-rule double by Madison Stephens.

Jones finished 1-for-2 with three RBIs, and Ashley Ward was 2-for-3 with a run for Coronado. Ward also picked up the win in relief.

Coronado 5, El Toro (Calif.) 4 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Ward had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs, and Tatum Spangler added an RBI to help the Cougars hold off the Chargers.

Cierra Sawyer pitched a complete game to earn the victory for Coronado.

Centennial 9, Verrado (Ariz.) 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Amanda Sink had three hits and three RBIs to power the Bulldogs to the five-inning win.

Ashlynn Heck added two hits and three RBIs for Centennial. Abby Hanley spun a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks to get the win.

Palo Verde 7, Herriman (Utah) 4 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Lauryn Barker had two hits and three RBIs as the Panthers beat the Mustangs in five innings.

Samantha Wade added two hits and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Kendall Hopkins struck out nine in five innings.

Hamilton (Ariz.) 6, Palo Verde 4 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Abigail Andersen drove in four runs and struck out nine in the circle to lead the Huskies to the six-inning win over the Panthers.

Cactus (Ariz.) 4, Centennial 1 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Emilie Guerra spun a three-hitter as the Cobras beat the Bulldogs.

Deanna Barrera went the distance and struck out seven for Centennial.

Shadow Ridge 8, Yucaipa (Calif.) 2 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Shea Clements was 3-for-4 with two solo homers to lead the Mustangs over the Thunderbirds in six innings.

Jasmine Martin had a home run and two RBIs, and Alisha Schultz drove in the go-ahead run.

Mia Voges went the distance, allowing two hits and striking out five, to get the win.

Shadow Ridge 15, La Mirada (Calif.) 13 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Mustangs scored five runs in the top of the eighth and held off the Matadores.

Schultz went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Clements was 3-for-4, and Martin went 3-for-5 with two doubles for Shadow Ridge.

Alyssa Stanley also homered for the Mustangs.

Basic 7, Fountain Valley (Calif.) 6 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Hannah Barr had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Wolves past the Barons.

El Modena (Calif.) 9, Basic 7 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, the Vanguards used a six-run fourth inning to top the Wolves.

Alyssa Ferguson drove in three runs for Basic.

Faith Lutheran 13, Roy (Utah) 2 — At St. George, Utah, Maggie Whipple went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, five RBIs and three runs as the Crusaders beat the Royals in five innings at the March Warm-Up Tournament.

Hailey Hines went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Ellie Fried was 3-for-4 with three runs for Faith Lutheran.

Natalie Behmer and Grace Hornsby each added two hits for Faith Lutheran.

Enterprise (Utah) 8, Faith Lutheran 6 — At St. George, Utah, Ronnie Robinson was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Wolves past the Crusaders in the March Warm-Up.

Whipple was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and three walks, and Hornsby went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Sophie Foster was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for the Crusaders.

Riverton (Utah) 12, Green Valley 2 — At St. George, Utah, the Silverwolves scored nine runs over the final two innings to pull away from the Gators in the March Warm-Up.

Tyre Hilton and Cinthia Garcia each had a double for Green Valley.

Green Valley 7, Snow Canyon (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, Savannah Fabro was 2-for-4 with a double and the Gators held off the Warriors in the March Warm-Up.

Katrin Ramos added two hits for Green Valley, which led 7-0 before allowing five sixth-inning runs.

Bishop Gorman 10, Savanna (Calif.) 6 — At Gorman, the Gaels scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to top the Rebels.

Hayley Coreas was 2-for3- with a double and two RBIs, and Nycole Cootes went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Gorman.

Katelyn Hunter and Mia Weckel each went 3-for-4 for the Gaels.

Savanna’s Natalie Crawford was 2-for3- with two RBIs.

Tonopah 17, Mountain View 0 — At Laughlin, Blaze Snegirev went 4-for-4 with three triples and six RBIs to help the Muckers rout the Saints in three innings in the Cougar Classic

Lauren Klapper was 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs, and Snegirev fired a two-hitter with four strikeouts to get the win.

Laughlin 30, Mountain View 1 — At Laughlin, Carissa Wollerton went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and the Cougars took advantage of 27 walks to beat the Saints in three innings at the Cougar Classic.
