ROUNDUP: Henderson’s game-winning hit caps Gators’ rally past Cougars

Fenixx Henderson’s bloop single to center field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday plated Chelsea Perez with the winning run as Green Valley’s softball team rallied for a 12-11 home win against Coronado.
The Gators trailed 9-3 in the fifth inning and were down 11-8 before scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to win it.
The Cougars committed two errors in the inning before Perez hit a one-out, two-run single through the right side of the infield to make it 11-10.

After a line out, Autumn Owens doubled to center to chase home Maggie Manwarren with the tying run. Henderson then looped an 0-1 pitch to center for the win.

Henderson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Perez was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Green Valley. Jinger Meiur went 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI, and Owens was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Gators.

Winning pitcher Sam Loving was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Kiley Harrison went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Coronado. Basia Query was 3-for-3, and Danielle Amato went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Cougars, who also got a home run and two RBIs from Katie Dawson.

Durango 5, Bonanza 4 — At Durango, the Trailblazers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete a comeback against the Bengals.

Dallas Boyce had an RBI double to pull Durango within one, and the Trailblazers scored two runs on a sacrifice fly by Mallory Lawson to win it. Brittany O’Hearn scored from second on the play for the go-ahead run.

Boyce was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Tori Ray went 2-for-3 for Durango, which trailed 4-0 after three innings.

Lawson drove in three runs for the Trailblazers.

Caitlyn Lloyd was 2-for-4 for Bonanza, and Sadie Sutton drove in two runs for the Bengals.

Cheyenne 14, Tech 4 — At Cheyenne, Vanessa Sanders went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double and six RBIs to power the Desert Shields past the Roadrunners in six innings.

Megan Ingram was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Brittany Leeds went 2-for-3 with a double for Cheyenne.

Ashley Ramsey and Kimmie Rodriguez each had two hits, including a double, for Tech.

Valley 14, Del Sol 6 — At Valley, Shannon Williams went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs to help the Vikings rally past the Dragons.

Olga Torres went 2-for-5 with four RBIs to help Valley, which trailed 6-0 before taking over with seven runs in the fourth inning.

Legacy 13, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, Kiani Elia-Mendiola went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and four runs scored to lead the Longhorns over the Mountain Lions in five innings.

Alysia Santos finished 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and three runs scored for Legacy. Eliza Baldridge also hit a triple for the Longhorns.

Angel Love went 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored to lead the Mountain Lions.

Spring Valley 18, Western 2 — At Spring Valley, Georgi DeLio went 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs as the Grizzlies routed the Warriors in five innings.

Ellie Endsley was 3-for-4 with a double for Spring Valley, which led 12-0 after two innings.

Ashley Coate tossed a three-hitter for the Grizzlies.

Cimarron-Memorial 9, Las Vegas 2 — At Las Vegas, three Spartan pitchers combined on a four-hitter, and Cimarron raced to a 9-0 lead in the fourth inning on its way to a win over the Wildcats.

Carli Stafford and Sarah Murphy each tripled for Cimarron, which scored four runs in the first inning.

Canyon Springs 22, Desert Pines 9 — At Desert Pines, Ali Givens was 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Pioneers routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Ciera Berkemeyer went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Tiara Fondrin was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Canyon Springs.

Bishop Gorman 8, Washington Union (Calif.) 1 — At Gorman, Cassie Nelson and Samantha Stanfield combined on a four-inning no-hitter to as the Gaels earned the win in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Alexandria Gordon was 2-for-2 with a stolen base, and Sierra Diaz went 2-for-3 with a stolen base for Gorman.

Foothill 8, Chaparral 2 — At Bishop Gorman, Gabby Canibeyaz went 2-for-2 to help the Falcons defeat the Cowboys in five innings in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Aricia Dami went 2-for-3 to help Foothill, which set the tempo with four runs in the first inning.

Foothill 12, Pahrump Valley 1 —  At Bishop Gorman, McKenna King tossed a five-inning one-hitter to lead the Falcons past the Trojans in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

Daryan Meade went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple to help Foothill, and teammate Sarah Maddox went 2-for-3.

Foothill 10, Bishop Manogue 5 — At Bishop Gorman, Vanessa Perrales and Lauren Penksa each went 2-for-3 to help the Falcons beat the Miners in five innings in the Kick Off the Season Tournament.

RaeAnn Brems homered for Foothill.

Chaparral 4, Campbell Hall (Calif.) 3 — At Bishop Gorman, Nicole Lesniak hit a two-run home run and pitched a five-inning four-hitter as the Cowboys earned the win in the Kick Off the Seaosn Tournament.

Lauren Lesniak was 2-for-2 with a walk for Chaparral.

Arizona Lutheran (Ariz.) 6, Indian Springs 4 — At Mountain View, the Coyotes broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the fourth and added two more in the fifth to nip the Thunderbirds in six innings in the Spring Slam.

University Prep (Calif.) 9, Calvary Chapel 3 — At Mountain View, the Jaguars scored six runs in the second inning on the way to a three-inning win over the Lions in the Spring Slam.

Lincoln County JV 7, Laughlin 2 —
At Mountain View, the Lynx’s junior varsity  jumped ahead early and rolled to victory over the Cougars in six innings in the Spring Slam.

Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 19, Laughlin 0 — At Mountain View, Alex Jones and Madonna Gutierrez combined for a four-inning no-hitter to help the Yellowjackets cruise past the Cougars in the Spring Slam.

Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 22, Mountain View 4 — At Mountain View, the Yellowjackets pounded out 21 hits to roll past the Saints in four innings in the Spring Slam.
