Roundup: Kaitlyn Suarez’s sac fly lifts Rancho to Colorado River title

Kaitlyn Suarez’s sacrifice fly to center field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Anaiya Irick with the winning run as Rancho edged Silverado 8-7 in the championship game of the Colorado River Invitational in Needles, California.

After Silverado scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, Alyssa Ortiz led off the bottom of the inning with a single. Irick ran for Ortiz and moved to second on Taya Friedrich’s single. Both runners advanced when Sierra Crane’s sacrifice bunt didn’t result in a out, loading the bases for Suarez.

Giselle Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double, and Mia Elicerio had a home run and two RBIs for the Rams.

Destiny Capers was 2-for-5 with a home run for the Skyhawks, and teammate Anna Tucker was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Rancho 12, Durango 1 — At Needles, California, MacKenzie Perry tossed a five-inning one-hitter and went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and two RBIs to help the Rams defeat the Trailblazers in a Colorado River Invitational semifinal.

Mia Elicerio was 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs, and Lorena De La Torre was 2-for-2 with a double for Rancho.

Rancho 3, Coachella Valley (Calif.) 2 — At Needles, California, Perry was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs as the Rams edged the Arabs in six innings in a Colorado River Invitational quarterfinal.

Friedrich was 2-for-2 for Rancho.

Silverado 5, Holbrook (Ariz.) 4 — At Needles, California, the Skyhawks scored two runs on an error in the fifth inning to take the lead and held off the Roadrunners in six innings in a Colorado River Invitational semifinal.

Megan Johnson was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Silverado.

Olivia Baldonado went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Holbrook.

Holbrook (Ariz.) 11, Boulder City 2 — At Needles, California, Madison Chappell was 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs to lead the Roadrunners by the Eagles in five innings in a Colorado River Invitational quarterfinal.

Marleena Mills was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Boulder City.

Silverado 13, Pahrump Valley 8 — At Needles, California, Destiny Capers went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help the Skyhawks down the Trojans in a Colorado River Invitational quarterfinal.

Mikayla Capers was 2-for-3 with two runs for Silverado.

Skyler Lauver went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Kareena Nelson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Pahrump.

Faith Lutheran 3, Needles 3 — At Needles, California, Hannah Probst went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Crusaders earn a five-inning tie with the Mustangs in a Colorado River Invitational consolation game.

Kalsey Kekahuna-Lopes was 2-for-2 and scored twice for Faith Lutheran.

Charley Andrews was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Paige Murch went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs for Needles.

Lady Devils Tournament

Eldorado 12, Chaparral 0 — At Eldorado, Kandace Parker went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to help the Sundevils rout the Cowboys in four innings in the championship game of the Lady Devils Tournament.

Harlee Salazar was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Veronica Velasquez was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Eldorado.

Adriana Romero spun a three-hitter and struck out nine for the Sundevils.

Eldorado 18, Canyon Springs 8 — At Eldorado, Penelope Zuniga was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs to help the Sundevils to a four-inning win over the Pioneers in the semifinals.

Roshanda Stevens was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Eldorado.

Skylah McDowell went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Hazal Lopez-Anguiano and Angela Godwin each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Canyon Springs.

Chaparral 12, Western 3 — At Eldorado, winning pitcher Losa Laolagi went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI to help the Cowboys top the Warriors in five innings in a semifinal.

Beverly Amaya was 1-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs for Chaparral.

Mia Perez was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Western.

Eldorado 14, Desert Pines 3 — At Eldorado, Stevens was 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs to help the Sundevils top the Jaguars in four innings in a quarterfinal.

Romero was 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for Eldorado. Salazar was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Esmeralda Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Sundevils.

Jocelyn Bailon was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Desert Pines.

Chaparral 17, Del Sol 2 — At Eldorado, Laolagi allowed two hits as the Cowboys routed the Dragons in three innings in a quarterfinal.

Laolagi walked three and struck out four.

Canyon Springs 19, Clark 10 — At Eldorado, McDowell was 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBIs as the Pioneers defeated the Chargers in four innings.

Anguiano-Lopez was 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBIs for Canyon Springs.

Noemi Barriga was 3-for-3 with two doubles with three runs and an RBI for Clark.

Tournament of Champions

Basic 7, Verrado (Ariz.) 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Shelby Basso tossed a four-hitter and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Wolves downed the Vipers in five innings in the Tournament of Champions.

Basso struck out nine and walked one.

Angela Santillanes was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Basic.

Basic 1, Valencia (N.M.) 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Jordan Stinnett tossed a five-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Wolves by the Jaguars.

Basso’s second-inning home run accounted for all of the scoring.

Basso was 2-for-3, and Sanoe Helenihi was 2-for-4 for Basic.

Coronado 5, Mohave (Ariz.) 3 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Paige Sinicki and Kaila Angel each went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to help the Cougars top the Thunderbirds in six innings.

Coronado scored five runs in the bottom of the first to erase a 2-0 deficit.

Coronado 13, Aztec (N.M.) 2 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, winning pitcher Ashley Ward went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and six RBIs as the Cougars blitzed the Tigers in five innings.

Sinicki was 4-for-4 with four runs and an RBI, and Angel went 2-for-3 with a double for Coronado.

Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 11, Foothill 0 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Cassidy Stanton went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI to help the Hawks top the Falcons in six innings.

Morgan Matusmoto was 1-for-3 with a double for Foothill.

Valencia (Calif.) 9, Foothill 5 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Amber Lindgren was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to power the Jaguars by the Falcons.

Layla Que went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for Foothill.

Spring Showdown

Centennial 9, West (Utah) 7 — At St. George, Utah, Natasha Lawrence’s two-out double in the top of the sixth plated Abby Hanley with the go-ahead run, and Samantha Lawrence followed with a run-scoring single as the Bulldogs rallied past the Panthers in the Spring Showdown.

Centennial trailed 7-0 entering the sixth inning, but scored all of its runs in the top of the sixth.

Natasha Lawrence was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Samantha Lawrence was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Ashlynn Heck was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial.

Centennial 16, Olympus (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Hanley allowed just one hit and struck out eight as the Bulldogs routed the Titans in three innings.

Madeline Wade was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Maddie Kallfelz was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs for Centennial. Natasha Lawrence and Samantha Lawrence each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Centennial, which got a home run from Deanna Barrera.

Centennial 10, Springville (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Utah, Hanley went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI to help the Bulldogs down the Red Devils.

Samantha Lawrence was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Sofia Ruelas was 2-for-3 with a double for Centennial.

March Warm-Up

Desert Oasis 10, Maple Mountain (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Jazmyn Compehos tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Diamondbacks by the Golden Eagles in the March Warm-Up.

Holly Severance was 3-for-3 with a home run and a double, and Jaid Raval and Makayla Rickard each went 2-for-3 with a double for Desert Oasis.

Desert Oasis 15, Desert Hills (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, Paisley Garcia and Amber Brocoff each went 3-for-4 with four runs as the Diamondbacks topped the Thunder in six innings.

Yahirda Peregrina was 3-for-5 with two doubles, and Meaghan McInerney, Severance and Raval each had three RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Roy (Utah) 3, Desert Oasis 2 — At St. George, Utah. Maysa Everett tossed a six-inning five-hitter and struck out five to allow the Royals to edge the Diamondbacks.

Garcia went 2-for-3 with a two-run home-run for Desert Oasis.

Green Valley 13, Snow Canyon (Utah) 8 — At St. George, Utah, Olivia McClain was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and two RBIs as the Gators outslugged the Warriors in six innings.

Savannah Vincent was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Katrina Ramos went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Green Valley.

Green Valley 10, Kearns (Utah) 10 — At St. George, Utah, Cindy Martinez-Escamilla was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to help the Gators earn a four-inning tie with the Cougars.

McClain was 2-for-2 for Green Valley.

Ridgeline (Utah) 8, Green Valley 5 — At St. George, Utah, Ellie Mons was 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Riverhawks by the Gators.

Martinez-Escamilla was 2-for-4, and McClain was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Green Valley.

Spartan Slugfest

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Spring Valley 4 — At Cimarron, Mya’Liah Bethea was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, four runs and four RBIs as the Spartans downed the Grizzlies in four innings in the Spartan Slugfest.

Tiarra Del Rosario and Reagan Wadsworth each went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Cimarron.

Brianna Villarreal was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Spring Valley.

Cimarron-Memorial 15, Bonanza 12 — At Cimarron, Nicole Lopez was 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs as the Spartans outlasted the Bengals in a six-inning game.

Del Rosario was 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Cimarron.

Sara Riley went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Carla LaRosa was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Bonanza.

Spring Valley 17, Valley 7 — At Cimarron, Teegan Teal was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to guide the Grizzlies to a five-inning win over the Vikings.

Daniela Mejia was 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs, and teammate Chryshelle Abril-Ryan drove in four runs for Spring Valley.
