ROUNDUP: McKenna’s game-winning hit lifts Bengals over Legacy softball

Ashlee McKenna singled home Tori Lind with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday to lead Bonanza’s softball team to a 5-4 win over visiting Legacy.

Legacy scored once in the top of the ninth to take the lead, but Kayla Sylvester singled home Raquell Hoyes with the tying run before McKenna collected the winning hit.

Lind was 4-for-5, and Hoyes tripled and doubled for Bonanza.

Alysia Santos went 2-for-4 with a double for Legacy.

Bishop Gorman 4, Cimarron-Memorial 3 — At Gorman, Jasmine Gibson singled home Ashley Witucki with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Gaels came from behind to beat the Spartans.

Cimarron took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th as Sarina Cresswell, who finished 2-for-4, doubled in Kayla Johnson.

Shelby Estocado reached on a one-out bunt single in the bottom of the 10th and stole second. After Estocado moved to third on a sacrifice, Witucki’s run-scoring single knotted the score at 3.

Witucki then stole second and scored the winning run on Gibson’s hit up the middle.

Estocado was 2-for-4, including a solo home run in the third inning. Dayton Yingling doubled and also earned the victory after coming on in relief in the fifth.

Boulder City 6, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Boulder City, Mikaela Brown pitched a seven-hit shutout and went 3-for-4 with a double as the Eagles blanked the Miners.

Brown struck out five. Alyssa Ybarra added a triple for Boulder City, which finished with 10 hits.

Sunrise Mountain’s Bethany Connell was 2-for-3.

Foothill 17, Basic 1 — At Basic, McKenna King was 2-for-2 with a double with four RBIs as the Falcons routed the Wolves in five innings.

Palmer Bosanko went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Lauren Penksa homered for Foothill.

Centennial 13, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Savannah Horvath went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, and Taylor Huntly pitched a complete game to lift the Bulldogs over the Diamondbacks.

Horvath homered, doubled, scored four runs and stole two bases. The junior, who has verbally committed to Cal State Northridge, has 24 RBIs in her past four games.

Huntly allowed four hits in the circle and was 3-for-4 with two of Centennial’s five doubles. Teammate Alyssa Finger finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Karly Severance had a run-scoring double in the fourth inning for Desert Oasis.

Coronado 12, Eldorado 2 — At Coronado, Katie Dawson went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and the Cougars used a seven-run second inning to rout the Sundevils in five innings.

Basia Query was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jaiden Johnson was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Coronado.

Keelyn Pacheco went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Liberty 15, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Tiana Tapuala finished 4-for-5 with two triples and a double to power the Patriots past the Dragons.

Alina Marruffo hit a triple for Del Sol.

Chaparral 18, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Lauren Lesniak went 5-for-5 with a triple as the Cowboys routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Vanessa Donham and Octavia Gray each went 4-for-4 for Chaparral.

Nicole Lesniak tossed a six-hitter for the Cowboys.

Lake Mead 20-24, Beaver Dam (Ariz.) 9-6 — At Beaver Dam, Ariz., Taylor Webb 5-for-6 with a double, a home run and nine RBIs in the nightcap as the Eagles swept a pair of five-inning games from the Diamondbacks.

Hunter Edwards was 2-for-5 with four RBIs, and Taylor Vetter went 4-for-5 with a triple and an RBI for Lake Mead in the second game.

In the opener, Vetter went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and Taylor Badua-Kono was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Lake Mead.
