ROUNDUP: Roark tosses Tech to two more Ws

Tech sophomore pitcher Amanda Roark tossed a no-hitter and racked up 25 strikeouts in 11 innings over two games Friday to lift the Roadrunners’ softball team to a pair of wins in the Colorado River Invitational at Needles, Calif.

Roark spun a five-inning no-hitter and had 11 strikeouts as Tech downed Lake Mead, 2-0.

Lauren Lesniak had a two-out single in the top of the third to drive in both Tech runs.

In the Roadrunners’ second game, Roark had 14 strikeouts and allowed three unearned runs in six innings as Tech topped White Pine, 6-3.

The sophomore pitcher has allowed one earned run and struck out 46 in 21 innings to start the season.

Roark and Cassie Bosse each drove in two runs for Tech.

Legacy 13, Del Sol 0 — At Needles, Calif., Sierra Pico went 3-for-3 with a triple, and Legacy used a 10-run first inning on its way to a three-inning victory over the Dragons in the Colorado River Invitational.

Danielle Pick was 3-for-3 with a double for the Longhorns, who limited Del Sol to one hit.

Legacy 13, Chino Valley (Calif.) 0 — At Needles, Calif., Darcey Cochran went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a double, two runs and three RBIs as Legacy squashed Chino Valley in three innings at the Colorado River Invitational.

Pico went 2-for-3 with a home run and struck out eight batters.

Legacy 7, Lake Mead 0 — At Needles, Calif., Pico tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out 10 as the Longhorns advanced in bracket play in the Colorado River Invitational.

Cochran was 2-for-3 with a pair of triples, and Jessie Wilhelm went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Legacy.

Spring Creek 12, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Needles, Calif., Rachel Kerr went 2-for-2 for the Crusaders in a four-inning loss in the Colorado River Invitational.

Faith Lutheran kept it close until the fourth inning, when Spring Creek scored seven runs.

Calvary Chapel 7, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Needles, the Lions opened the fifth inning with five consecutive singles and went on to beat the Crusaders in five innings.

Kerr again went 2-for-2 to lead Faith Lutheran.

Yucca Valley (Calif.) 7, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Needles, Kerr managed to break up a no-hitter with a single in the fourth, but the Crusaders fell in four innings.

Ashley Gord had Faith Lutheran’s lone RBI.

Clovis (Calif.) 3, Durango 2 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Clovis scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning and scratched across the winning run in the eighth to nip the Trailblazers in the Tournament of Champions.

Samantha Juarez hit a solo home run in the second inning for Durango.

Durango 11, Alta (Utah) 0 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Nicole Herrera spun a five-inning one-hitter with five strikeouts as the Trailblazers blitzed the Hawks in the Tournament of Champions.

Katie Moore went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Durango. Mindy Larson was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and

Jaexie Balilea stroked a two-run homer for the Trailblazers.

Mater Dei (Calif.) 14, Desert Oasis 2 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Mater Dei pounded out 11 hits, including five doubles and two homers, en route to the four-inning victory in the Tournament of Champions.

Lenzi Cram homered for Desert Oasis.

Desert Oasis 13, Kingman (Ariz.) 7 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Emily Heinz and Taylor Beacham each drove in five runs to lead the Diamondbacks.

Heinz was 4-for-5 with a double and a homer, and Beacham was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.

Freshman Taryn Crawford tripled in her first varsity at-bat for Desert Oasis.

Mojave 11, Sunrise Mountain 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, Kelsi Matelau and Teyana Green each had two hits to lead the Rattlers past the Miners.

Mojave scored four runs in the top of the first and never trailed.

Arbor View 12, Clark 2 — At St. George, Utah, the Aggies crossed the plate 10 times in the fifth to beat the Chargers in five innings in the March Warm-Up.

Chelsa Baca went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Arbor View. Teammate Amanda Jones pitched the distance, striking out six and allowing five hits.

Arbor View 7, Box Elder (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, the Aggies scored five runs in the fourth inning to rally back from a 5-2 deficit and sting the Bees.

Savannah Webster was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Arbor View, and teammates Marlene Panduro and Karli Leer had two hits each.

Clark 8, Juan Diego (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Julia Hagen tossed a four-inning two-hitter as Clark downed the Eagles.

Shannon Chapman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Anna Jaehn was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for the Chargers.

Basic 8, Provo (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, the Wolves used a six-run second inning to down the Bulldogs in the March Warm-Up.

Lacey Romo pitched a four-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Basic.

Amanda Green was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for the Wolves.

Springville (Utah) 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At St. George, Utah, the Spartans fell in six innings after giving up an unearned run in the third and another in the fourth.

Stephanie Kaplan provided Cimarron’s only hit with a double in the sixth inning.

Carrie Sheehan took the loss for the Spartans, despite pitching a four-hitter.

Cimarron-Memorial 9, Davis (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, the Spartans’ Sheehan struck out five batters while allowing only four hits to the Darts en route to an easy victory.

Sheehan also went 3-for-4 with a sixth-inning grand slam.

Teammate Denay Sells had a solo homer in the fourth.

Bonanza 4, Silverado 3 — At St. George, Utah, Cheyenne Wells hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to power the Bengals past the Skyhawks in the March Warm-Up.

Silverado 6, Hunter (Utah) 4 — At St. George, Riana Splinter’s two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning scored

Johana Benton and lifted the Skyhawks past Hunter.

Foothill 6, Mountain Crest (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Alex Petrolia threw a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the Falcons past the Mustangs in six innings.

Kylee Taylor hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first for Foothill. Kylie Ishikawa added a two-run homer in the sixth for the Falcons.

Foothill 11, Bishop Gorman 1 — At St. George, Utah, Palmer Bosanko was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to help the Falcons beat the Gaels in four innings.

Maddie Pike was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Foothill.

Eldorado 11, Logan (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Gabriela Trillo hit a three-run homer to lead the Sundevils past the Grizzlies.

Basic 10, Cedar (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Lacey Romo pitched her second perfect game in two days, retiring all 15 Cedar batters in Basic's five-inning win.

Romo got Cedar's first batter to pop out, then struck out the next 14 hitters.

Leah Causey went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Jenilee Medina was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Wolves.

Basic 17, Cyprus (Utah) 3 — At St. George, Romo went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, and Basic scored nine times in the top of the first inning to blitz Cyprus.

Amanda Green was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for the Wolves, and Brooke Logan belted a two-run homer.

Liberty 4, Elko 0 — At St. George, Utah, Francesca Foti spun a five-inning four-hitter to lift the Patriots past Elko.

Rhiannon Beck was 2-for-2 with a double, and teammates Carson Cooper and Cassandra English each went 2-for-3 for Liberty.

Liberty 15, West (Utah) 0 – At St. George, Breanna English and Sara Neiman combined on a four-inning perfect game as the Patriots routed West.

Breanna English, who pitched the first two innings, was 3-for-3 with a triple and five RBIs. Cooper went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Nikki Blindeagle was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs for the Patriots.

Liberty 12, Pine View (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Cooper went 4-for-4 to back Breanna English's three-hit pitching as the Patriots stormed Pine View.

Cassandra English was 3-for-3 with three runs, and Megan Patras went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Liberty.
