ROUNDUP: Westgarth, three-run eighth lift Wildcats by Vikings

Ashly Westgarth singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning Monday to lift Las Vegas High’s softball team to a 14-11 win at Valley.

Brooke Booth added a two-run single in the eighth for the Wildcats, who trailed 11-6 after two innings.

Westgarth finished 3-for-5 with three runs. Booth was 3-for-6, and Kristina Nelson went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Las Vegas.

Olga Torres went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Valley, and teammate Jamie Goodman went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Desert Oasis 11, Durango 9 — At Durango, C.J. Wilson and Sammantha Caruso each had an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to help the Diamondbacks edge the Trailblazers.

Shonda Badayos doubled home a run and scored a run in the seventh to give Desert Oasis a 9-8 lead, but Durango’s Kendall Short walked and scored in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.

Badayos was 3-for-5 with a home run, and Caruso went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs for the Diamondbacks. Brionna Santovito was 4-for-5 with two runs for Desert Oasis.

Short went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs, and Mindy Larson was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs for Durango.

Bishop Gorman 10, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Pahrump, Dayton Yingling tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 14 as the Gaels secured the outright Southwest League title by blanking the Trojans.

Yingling also went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, and Shelby Estocado tripled and scored a run for Gorman.

Spring Valley 9, Sierra Vista 8 — At Sierra Vista, Katie Campo had a two-run, two-out single in the top of the seventh to plate the tying and go-ahead runs to allow the Grizzlies to nip the Mountain Lions.

Ashley Coate drew a bases-loaded walk before Campo’s hit for Spring Valley, which erased an 8-5 sixth-inning deficit.

Campo was 4-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs, and Denise Terk went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs for Spring Valley. Coate was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.

Marisa Findlay and Kalene Sales-Watkins each had two hits for Sierra Vista.

Silverado 6, Tech 4 — At Tech, winning pitcher Taylee Heckman went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks to lead the Skyhawks by the Roadrunners.

Kimmie Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Tech, and Austyn Dziewit and Jordyn Roark each added two hits.

Eldorado 15, Rancho 3 — At Rancho, Ashley Jarzombek pitched a five-inning two-hitter to help the Sundevils cruise by the Rams.

Cheyanne Schindler was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, and Taylor Schroeder went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Eldorado.

Clark 5, Bonanza 4 — At Clark, winning pitcher Julia Hagen went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs as the Chargers did all of their scoring in the first two innings and held off the Bengals.

Tori Lind was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Bonanza.

Green Valley 9, Basic 0 — At Basic, Fenixx Henderson was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and tossed a two-hitter to help the Gators blank the Wolves.

Lindsay Seberry went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Cori Sutton was 3-for-5 for Green Valley.

Chaparral 20, Desert Pines 5 — At Chaparral, winning pitcher Kaiti Brown went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Tichina Savoy was 2-for-2 with four runs and three RBIs as the Cowboys routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Peyton Hunton was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and three runs for Chaparral.

Liberty 16, Del Sol 4 — At Liberty, Becca Freer tossed a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Patriots past the Dragons.

Francesca Foti was 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs and six RBIs, and Elli Brown was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Liberty.

Sunrise Mountain 13, Canyon Springs 12 — At Canyon Springs, Monica Herrera went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs as the Miners outslugged the Pioneers.

Taryn Sharp was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Sunrise Mountain.

Christian Earl went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs to lead Canyon Springs.
