SMALL-SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Davis pitches Panthers to victory in Division IV Southern League tourney

Kaitlyn Davis spun a five-inning one-hitter and was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs Thursday to help Pahranagat Valley’s softball team to a 20-1 win over Round Mountain in a Division IV Southern League playoff game at Alamo.

Madison Harris went 3-for-4, and teammate Brook Higbee finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley, which raced out to an 8-0 lead after one inning. Morgan Harris and Alyson Egbert each supplied two hits for the Panthers (21-7), who will face Tonopah (10-11) in the winners’ bracket final at noon Friday.

Round Mountain (11-11) will meet Indian Springs (13-5) in an elimination game at 2 p.m.

Tonopah 17, Indian Springs 9 — At Alamo, Alyssa Newell had four hits and four RBIs as the Muckers rallied from a 6-4 deficit in the fourth inning to top the Thunderbirds.

Lexy Bayne had three hits and two RBIs, and Sandra Dunn added three hits for Tonopah.

DIVISION III

Kourtni Fletcher tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out seven to help Needles to a 16-0 win over Lake Mead in the opening round of the Division III Southern League tournament at Laughlin.

Brenna Chavez was 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Paige Murch added two hits and four RBIs for the Mustangs (19-4), who will face Lincoln County (22-8) in the winners’ bracket final at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Lincoln County was an 11-1 winner over White Pine (16-8) in the second semifinal. White Pine and Lake Mead (13-8) meet in an elimination game at noon Friday.
