SOFTBALL: Amato, Cougars down Gators

Danielle Amato tossed a three-hitter and went 2-for-4 with two doubles to help Coronado’s softball team to a 4-1 win over host Green Valley on Saturday.
Jaiden Johnson was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Brooke Younie went 2-for-4 with a double for the Cougars.
Autumn Owens homered for Green Valley.
Coronado 5, Foothill 4 — At Green Valley, Johnson was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI to help the Cougars hold off the Falcons.
Nicole Hardy went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Coronado, which used a four-run fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
Kelsey McFarland was 2-for-4 for Foothill.
Green Valley 6, Foothill 3 — At Green Valley, winning pitcher Samantha Loving went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and the Gators scored all of their runs in the fourth inning to top the Falcons.
Tara Hilton was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Green Valley.
McFarland went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBIs, and Sarah Maddox went 2-for-3 with a home run for Foothill.
Rancho 8, Pleasant Valley (Calif.) 1 — At Fresno, Calif., Tiare Lee was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Rams down Pleasant Valley in the championship game of the Washington Union Invitational.
Jacey Kelley was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Sammi Llamas went 2-for-3 for the Rams, who scored six runs in the third inning.
Tournament MVP Brandy Marlett and Samantha Pochop combined on a three-hitter for Rancho.
Rancho 8, Garces (Calif.) 7 — At Fresno, Calif., Lee’s two-run single up the middle with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning allowed the Rams to top Garces in a semifinal.
Kayla Coles blasted a pinch-hit two-run home run in the fifth inning for Rancho to tie the game at 5-5 before Garces went up 7-5 in the seventh. The Rams responded with one run and loaded the bases for Lee, who finished 2-for-3 with the two RBIs.
Megan Sloan and Katerina Anthony both went 2-for-3 for the Rams.
Rancho 5, Monache (Calif.) 3 — At Fresno, Calif., Jahnae Davis-Houston was 2-for-2 with a home run as the Rams held off Monache in a quarterfinal.
Sloan was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Marlett went 2-for-3 for Rancho.
Legacy 15, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Alyssa Sotelo was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs as the Longhorns routed the Crusaders in five innings.
Haley Pedersen went 3-for-4, and Gabby Rinker also homered for Legacy, which used a 12-run third inning to pull away.
Lili Bonora was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.
