SOFTBALL: Corn, Falcons down Coronado with four-run sixth

Jordan Corn went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs on Thursday, and host Foothill’s softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to top No. 2 Coronado, 11-9.

Alexis Farias added two hits for the Falcons, who led 6-3 after three innings, and broke a 7-7 tie with the sixth-inning uprising.

Sophia McCann had three hits, including a triple, and Brooke Younie had three hits, including a double, for the Cougars. Marissa Kopp, Alexis Okamura and Basia Query each added two hits for Coronado.

Basic 9, Green Valley 3 — At Green Valley, the Wolves plated six runs in the top of the ninth inning to down the Gators.

Green Valley trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning but scored twice to extend the game. The Gators were able to load the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning, but were unable to score.

Rebecca Pullen went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer to lead the Wolves. Carlee Gettman went 4-for-5 for the Wolves.

Lexi Edmunds went the distance and allowed nine hits with four strikeouts to pick up the win.

Amber Calderon doubled, and Tara Hilton drove in three runs for the Gators.

Tech 12, Canyon Springs 7 — At Canyon Springs, Avery Rayos hit a three-run homer to lead the Roadrunners past the Pioneers.

Megan Thomas also doubled for the Roadrunners, who took control of the game with a five-run fourth inning.

Karina Cavada doubled, and Emilee Kaye drove in three runs for the Pioneers.

Spring Valley 12, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Michaela Hood tossed a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs to lead the Grizzlies by the Desert Shields in five innings.

Madison Macove was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Ellie Endsley went 3-for-4 with a triple for Spring Valley.

Jonnette Paddy’s fourth-inning single was Cheyenne’s only hit.

Sierra Vista 17, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, winning pitcher Kalei Watkins was 4-for-4 with three home runs, including a grand slam, and seven RBIs to lead the Mountain Lions by the Rattlers in five innings.

Adrianna Somerville added two hits for Sierra Vista, which led only 4-0 after three innings.

Jessica Ortiz had two hits for Mojave.

Faith Lutheran 12, Western 0 — At Western, Mosie Foley tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out 10 to lead the Crusaders by the Warrriors.

Foley allowed only a leadoff single by Mireya Villela in the bottom of the first inning and hit one batter.

Claire Peck was 2-for-4 with a home run, and Erin Gilchrist was 2-for-4 with a double for Faith Lutheran. Makena Martin was 2-for-3, and Haley Jack went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.

Arbor View 15, Bonanza 3 — At Bonanza, winning pitcher Kortney Leach had three hits and scored three runs as the Aggies topped the Bengals in five innings.

Brittany Henricksen had two doubles and two RBIs, and Taylor Beaman and Bryce Henricksen each added two hits and two RBIs for Arbor View, which led 11-1 after two innings.

Caitlyn Lloyd had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for Bonanza, which got a single and two RBIs from Alexis Owensby.

Rancho 15, Eldorado 5 — At Rancho, Sammi Llamas and Yvette Sanchez each drove in three runs to lead the Rams past the Sundevils in six innings.

Llamas went 2-for-2 with a double, and Sanchez went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Gianna Carasone went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Rancho.

Katerina Anthony pitched a complete game, scattering six hits, to pick up the win.

Pahrump Valley 23, Clark 0 — At Pahrump, winning pitcher Amanda Pryor had three hits, including a double, as the Trojans routed the Chargers in five innings.

Maddisson Hurley had a triple and a single, and Amaya Mendoza added a double and a single for Pahrump, which scored 12 runs in the third inning.

Pryor and Mendoza combined on a two-hitter.

Desert Oasis 23, Cimarron-Memorial 6 — At Cimarron, Elsy Guzman was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and six RBIs as the Diamondbacks downed the Spartans in five innings.

Karly Severance was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs, and Gemma Perez went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs for Desert Oasis. Izzy Hodson was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.

Cimarron’s Rheanna Esparza was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Paige Ostlie was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Spartans.
