SOFTBALL: Durango shuts out Spring Valley in four innings

Alexis Geraldo went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Durango’s softball team to a 15-0 four-inning victory over host Spring Valley on Friday.

Durango’s Trinity Valentine tossed a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts to earn the victory. Valentine also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Marlie Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Durango.

Desert Oasis 15, Clark 0 — At Desert Oasis, Jada Moreno and Jaid Raval each went 3-for-3 with a triple in the Diamondbacks’ three-inning win over the Chargers.

Meagan Anders, Scarlett Hurtado and Jazmyne Compehos each went 2-for-2 for Desert Oasis, and Compehos had a triple.

Sharon Vernaz tripled for the Chargers.

Sierra Vista 18, Bonanza 6 — At Bonanza, Rosalia Nakayama went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs, and Daelynn Hilton was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored to help the Mountain Lions beat the Bengals in six innings.

Kalei Watkins was 2-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBIs, and Jamie Kalaau-Sunia had three RBIs for Sierra Vista, which scored four runs in the fifth and seven more in the sixth to pull away.

Evalynn Sandoval was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Bonanza.

San Clemente (Calif.) 7, Bishop Gorman 5 — At Anaheim, California, Monique Passalacqua went 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the Gaels’ five-inning loss to the Tritons at the Savannah Invitational.

Hannah Gondini went 2-for-3 for Gorman, which scored five runs in the top of the fifth after trailing 7-0.

Coronado 11, Foothill 2 — At Coronado, Tatum Spangler hit a grand slam as part of a seven-run fourth inning and finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs in the Cougars’ victory over the Falcons.

Spangler allowed two runs and struck out 14 batters, a day after she fanned 18 in a win over Rancho.

Erica Hardy was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Taylor Okamura had two doubles and drove in a run for the Cougars. Coronado’s Sophia McCann was 3-for-4, and teammate Marissa Kopp had two hits.

Caitlyn Stevenson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and a run scored to lead Foothill, which was up 2-1 after 2½ innings.

Basic 15, Valley 0 — At Valley, Izabelle Morales was 3-for-4 with four RBIs as the Wolves routed the Vikings in five innings.

Mikayla Berg had a double and three RBIs for Basic, and teammate Lauren Powell had a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Silverado 12, Eldorado 2 — At Silverado, Megan Johnson was 3-for-4 with two triples and an RBI, and Mary Dungey went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Skyhawks to a five-inning victory over the Sundevils.

Silverado’s Alycia Kobashigawa tossed four innings and allowed one run to earn the victory.

Green Valley 16, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, the Gators routed the Pioneers in six innings.

Mojave 23, Del Sol 3 — At Del Sol, Emilee Mitton and Ariel Wilson each had 4 RBIs as the Rattlers defeated the Dragons in four innings.

Mitton went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple, and Ariel Wilson went 4-for-4 with a double. Wilson also pitched three innings and allowed three runs to earn the victory.

Mojave’s Essence McRae went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Anastasia Evans also went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Pahranagat Valley 18, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Karley Whipple went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, and Madison Harris went 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Panthers to a four-inning victory over the Miners.

Pahranagat Valley starter Kaitlyn Davis went the distance, allowing two hits while striking out four.

Virgin Valley 5-13, Parowan (Utah) 4-6 — At Mesquite, Taylor Barnum had three RBIs, and the Bulldogs scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh of the opener against the Rams.

Calee Clem also drove in a run for Virgin Valley in the opener.

Savannah Price had two hits and two RBIs in the second game to help the Bulldogs complete the sweep.

Clem struck out 10 to earn the victory.

Needles 24-20, Calvary Chapel 1-0 — At Needles, California, Kourtney Fletcher went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and didn’t allow a hit in three innings to help the Mustangs complete a doubleheader sweep of the Lions.

Brooklyn McCorkle was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Needles in the second game.

In the opener, Paige Murch homered and doubled, and Brenna Chavez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Mustangs’ three-inning rout.

Lincoln County 19-17, Mountain View 1-0 — At Panaca, Kia Phillips went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs in the second game, and the Lynx swept a doubleheader from the Saints with two three-inning wins.

Hannah Lytle threw three hitless innings with three strikeouts in the nightcap for Lincoln County.

Kailey Kelley was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and two RBIs, and Brynlee Wadsworth and Sadie Teel each drove in two runs in the second game for the Lynx, who scored 16 runs in the first inning.

Phillips, Cameron Lloyd and Drew Cardinal each had three RBIs in the opener for Lincoln County.

Indian Springs 15-8, Round Mountain 0-13 — At Indian Springs, the Knights and Thunderbirds split a doubleheader.
