SOFTBALL: Fata’s three-hitter helps Desert Shields edge Trojans

Alyssa Fata spun a three-hitter and struck out four on Monday to lead Cheyenne’s softball team to a 2-1 win at Pahrump Valley.

Kylie Clark tripled and drove in a run, and Taylor Cole had a double and an RBI for the Desert Shields.

Lauren Koenig had a double and an RBI for the Trojans. Pahrump’s Whitney Roderick threw a four-hitter and struck out 13.

Western 9, Clark 4 — At Clark, Jennessa Dunton went 4-for-4 with a home run, three doubles and five RBIs to lead the Warriors over the Chargers.

Belinda Sandoval went 4-for-4 for the Warriors, and winning pitcher Brenda Sandoval scattered nine hits and struck out eight.

Liberty 10, Foothill 6 — At Foothill, the Patriots rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh inning to down the Falcons.

Jenn Story had a double and two RBIs, and Tiana Tapuala and McKenna Hefley each had two RBIs for Liberty.

Daryan Meade had a home run and four RBIs for Foothill.

Basic 17, Eldorado 10 — At Eldorado, Happy Butler had a triple and three RBIs, and the Wolves erupted for 11 runs in the seventh inning to down the Sundevils.

Teuila Sheehan doubled and had three RBIs for Basic.

Jazmine Sorchini had a double and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Cimarron-Memorial 10, Desert Oasis 3 — At Cimarron, Carmen Hasbrouck homered and had five RBIs to help the Spartans defeat the Diamondbacks.

Rosie Del Rosario, Paige Ostlie and Rheanna Esparza each went 3-for-4 with a double, and Sarah Murphy was 2-for-3 for Cimarron.

Meagan Anders was 2-for-3 with a home run for Desert Oasis.

Centennial 10, Legacy 0 — At Centennial, Heather Bowen had a home run, two doubles and two RBIs to help the Bulldogs top the Longhorns in five innings.

Angel Love had two doubles and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Cheyenne Cudahy tossed a two-hitter and struck out six for Centennial.

Coronado 19, Del Sol 3 — At Coronado, the Cougars’ first 18 batters all reached base safely in a five-inning rout of the Dragons.

Danielle Amato was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Katie Dawson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Coronado.

Bishop Gorman 20, Bonanza 2 — At Gorman, winning pitcher Casey Nelson was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as the Gaels routed the Bengals in five innings.

Tori Douglas was 2-for-4 for Gorman, which scored 13 runs in the second inning.

Brianna Hernandez was 2-for-2 with a double for Bonanza.

Faith Lutheran 17, Mojave 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Alex Wright was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs as the Crusaders downed the Rattlers in five innings.

Cheyenne Kidd added a two-run home run, and Lauryn Lipe went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.
