SOFTBALL: Feiner strikes out 17 in two-hit shutout

Tana Feiner tossed a two-hitter and struck out 17 on Friday to help Shadow Ridge’s softball team edge visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 2-0.

Feiner’s lead-off triple in the sixth inning started a two-run rally that broke a scoreless tie.

Maraya Lindo went 2-for-3 with a double for the Mustangs.

Legacy 19, Chaparral 0 — At Legacy, Haley Pedersen tossed a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Longhorns by the Cowboys.

Pedersen struck out four and hit one batter. She did not allow a walk.

Gabby Rinker and Alyssa Sotelo each went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Anastasia Fuller was 2-for-2 for Legacy.

Sierra Vista 8, Las Vegas 0 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins struck out 12 while tossing a one-hitter to lead the Mountain Lions past the Wildcats.

Madison Hiu and Alexia Ramos each went 2-for-2 to lead Sierra Vista’s offense. Taylor DeGuzman was 2-for-4 for the Mountain Lions.

Rancho 7, Riverdale (Calif.) 1 — At Fresno, Calif., Samantha Pochop tossed a one-hitter and struck out 16 as the Rams downed the Cowboys in the Washington Union Invitational.

Tori Hafen went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and Megan Sloan was 3-for-4 for Rancho. McKinzi Vega was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jacey Kelley was 2-for-3 for the Rams.

Centennial 14, Foothill 6 — At Foothill, Heather Bowen went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to help the Bulldogs cruise past the Falcons.

Kara Simpson went 3-for-4 with a double to help Centennial, which took control early. Teammates Ashley Ross and Stephanie Day each went 3-for-5, and Savannah Horvath homered.

Kelsey McFarland went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Foothill. RaeAnn Brems was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Hannah Stevens and Sarah Maddox each went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Falcons.

Mojave 6, Canyon Springs 5 — At Canyon Springs, Danette Daguiar was 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple as the Rattlers jumped to an early lead and held on for a victory over the Pioneers.

Emilee Kaye went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead Canyon Springs, and teammate Jaylin Cabagua went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Boulder City 7, Eldorado 6 — At Boulder City, Mikaela Brown and Nicole Schulz each doubled and singled, and the Eagles used a four-run third inning to hold off the Sundevils.

Alyssa Ybarra and Megan Morton each had two singles for Boulder City.

Keelyn Pacheco had three singles, and Valerie Ramirez and Daylon Brooks each had two singles for Eldorado.

Palo Verde 7, Liberty 1 — At Palo Verde, Melissa Lacro was 3-for-3 with a home run and a double to help the Panthers top the Patriots.

Haley Harrison went 2-for-3 with a double for Palo Verde, and winning pitcher Haylee Lupinetti tossed a six-hitter.

McKenna Hefley had a double and an RBI for Liberty.

Durango 3, Cheyenne 1 — At Durango, Dallas Boyce allowed just two hits and struck out nine as the Trailblazers downed the Desert Shields.

Kennedy Gallegos went 1-for-3 with a RBI, Mallory Lawson went 2-3 with a double, and Cheyanne Haas went 2-3 for Durango.

Pahrump Valley 12, Del Sol 0 — At Pahrump, Lahela Kaiwi and Amanda Pryor combined on a five-inning three-hitter as the Trojans routed the Dragons.

Kristal Kaiwi had two hits, including a triple, for Pahrump.

Valley 10, Western 0 — At Western, Kristina Manthei pitched a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Vikings past the Warriors.

Manthei went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, and teammate Shannon Williams went 4-for-4 with three doubles.

Desert Oasis 11, Basic 3 — At Basic, Karly Severance went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks by the Wolves.

Shonda Badayos tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine for Desert Oasis.

Paige Blake went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs for Basic.

Lincoln County 16-18, Needles 5-2 — At Panaca, Easton Tingey had three home runs, a triple and seven RBIs on the day as the Lynx swept a doubleheader from the Mustangs.

Tingey hit a grand slam in the opener for Lincoln County, which also got home runs from Chelsea Lloyd and Kayla Mathews. Kaylee Teel doubled twice and tripled for the Lynx.

Allissa Rentas and Brenna Chavez each homered for Needles in the first game.

In the nightcap, Tingey, Teel and Lloyd all homered, and Matthews tripled and doubled to pace the Lynx.

Melanie Leslie-Merchain had a home run for Needles.

Laughlin 19-15, The Meadows 4-5 — At The Meadows, Cassie Beggs went the distance in both games of the double header to earn two wins and lift the Cougars over the Mustangs in a pair of five-inning games.

Beggs, Diana Durazo each scored three runs apiece in the opener for Laughlin, which scored 10 runs in the fourth inning.

Emilee Shilts was 3-for-4 in the second game for the Cougars, who got a double from Chelsea Miller and two runs apiece from Durazo and Katelynn Skillingstad.

The Meadows’ Dani Otter had three doubles on the day, and teammate Noelle Young was 2-for-3 in the first game and had a double in the second game.

Calvary Chapel 14-24, Agassi Prep 4-10 — At Calvary Chapel, Kayla Johnson tossed a one-hitter in the opener and combined with Noelle Miller on a one-hitter in the nightcap as the Lions swept the Stars.

Julianna Cooney was 5-for-5 with an RBI, and Miller went 3-for-4 for Calvary Chapel in the opener.

Johnson added a double and an RBI, and Sydney Bendrick had a triple and RBI in the second game for the Lions.

Indian Springs 16-21, Sandy Valley 6-11 — At Indian Springs, Caroline Stark went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBIs in the opener, and the Thunderbirds swept the Sidewinders.

Asha Fisher was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the second game for Indian Springs.

Pahranagat Valley 20-17, Beaver Dam (Ariz.) 2-4 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Kennedy Huntsman and Madison Harris combined on a no-hitter in the nightcap as the Panthers swept the Diamondbacks.

Rheann Smith had a double and a triple to lead Pahranagat Valley in the nightcap.

Brook Higbee had two doubles, and Traci Strong homered in the opener for the Panthers, who got a combined two-hitter from Huntsman and Alyson Egbert.
