SOFTBALL: Hiu scores game-winner, Mountain Lions top Grizzlies in eight

Madison Hiu singled and came around to score on three passed balls in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday to lift Sierra Vista’s softball team to a 2-1 win at Spring Valley.
Kalei Watkins tossed a four-hitter and struck out six for the Mountain Lions.
Raven Bierlein and Michaela Hood combined on a five-hitter for the Grizzlies, who scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game.
Sunrise Mountain 10, Chaparral 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Andrea Garner fired a five-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts as the Miners routed the Cowboys.
Natalia Rivera went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, and Natalie Sharp was 2-for-2 for Sunrise Mountain, which led 8-0 after two innings.
Boulder City 12, Desert Pines 0 — At Boulder City, Charlene Masterson tossed a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks to guide the Eagles to a win over the Jaguars.
Katlyn Jackson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Mikaela Brown doubled twice for Boulder City, which got two hits and two runs from Masterson.
Silverado 13, Valley 7 — At Valley, Madison Sisco was 3-for-3 with a home run to lead the Skyhawks by the Vikings.
Arieana Monturio was 1-for-3 and scored three runs for Silverado, which scored six times in the seventh inning to break a 7-7 tie.
Shannon Williams and Kristina Manthei each went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI for the Vikings, and teammate Marissa Espinoza went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
Rancho 10, Las Vegas 0 — At Rancho, Samantha Pochop fired a five-inning one-hitter to lead the Rams to a win over the Wildcats.
Jacey Kelley had two hits and three RBIs, and Jahnae Davis-Houston supplied a two-run single for Rancho, which used an eight-run fifth inning to end the game.
Samantha Taylor supplied Las Vegas’ lone single.
Palo Verde 14, Durango 0 — At Palo Verde, Breanna Beatty was 2-for-3 and hit a grand slam to highlight an eight-run third inning as the Panthers routed the Trailblazers in five innings.
Dejanae Gage was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Palo Verde, which had 11 hits.
Haylee Lupinetti threw a three-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks for Palo Verde.
Green Valley 21, Canyon Springs 0 — At Green Valley, Samantha Loving, Gennie Simington and Sabrina Pierh combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Gators routed the Pioneers.
Amber Calderon went 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Autumn Owens had a grand slam for Green Valley, which scored 16 runs in the second inning.
Moapa Valley 22, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Makayla Jackson went 2-for-3 with a triple, and Makendie Frei tossed a four-hit shutout as the Pirates beat the Bulldogs in five innings.
Kyla Shumway finished 2-for-4 with a double, and Kinlee Marshall added a triple for Moapa Valley, which scored nine runs in the third inning.
