SOFTBALL: Hood’s no-hitter leads Grizzlies to 1-0 win over Sierra Vista

Michaela Hood threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 Tuesday to lead Spring Valley’s softball team to a 1-0 win over visiting Sierra Vista.

Hood walked one. She also drove in the game’s only run in the sixth inning on a grounder that allowed Kelsey Adams to score. Adams had reached on an error.

Kalei Watkins tossed a one-hitter and struck out two without allowing a walk for the Mountain Lions.

Faith Lutheran 12, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Mosie Foley tossed a five-inning no-hitter and hit a game-ending three-run home run to help the Crusaders down the Trojans.

Foley struck out 10 and didn’t allow a walk. Two Trojans reached base on errors.

Foley went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Ellie Fried was 3-for-4 with two runs, and Clara Heislen was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Crusaders.

Shadow Ridge 3, Legacy 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Mia Voges tossed a four-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Mustangs by the Longhorns.

Caitlyn Covington was 2-for-3 with a triple for Shadow Ridge.

Alyssa Sotelo was 2-for-3 with a double for Legacy. Amanda Sink allowed just four hits and struck out 10 for the Longhorns.

Palo Verde 5, Durango 1 — At Palo Verde, Haylee Lupinetti and Taylor Askland combined on a six-hitter as the Panthers topped the Trailblazers.

Grace Chavez was 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Cara Beatty went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Palo Verde. Lauryn Barker was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Panthers.

Mykayla Cutone was 2-for-3 with a double for Durango.

Arbor View 5, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Arbor View, Taylor Thomas and Breanne Henricksen combined on a three-hitter as the Aggies blanked the Gaels.

Thomas was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Arbor View, which used a three-run second to take control.

Brittany Henricksen supplied an RBI single for the Aggies.

Centennial 8, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Centennial, Hannah Jones threw a three-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Bulldogs by the Spartans.

Lina Barrera was 1-for-1 with two RBIs for Centennial, which also had just three hits, but took advantage of nine walks and two hit batters.

Mojave 16, Cheyenne 6 — At Mojave, Emilee Mitton went 5-for-5 with two triples and a double to power the Rattlers to a win over the Desert Shields in five innings.

Anastasia Evans and Janysa Trujillo each tripled for Mojave, which led 9-2 after two innings.

Danica Lund was 2-for-2 with two doubles, and Kylie Clark and Madelynn Kennedy each went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Cheyenne.

Western 18, Clark 1 — At Clark, Makalita Moeaki and Gisela Cano combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Warriors routed the Chargers.

Moeaki struck out 10 in four innings and went 2-for-2 with a triple for Western.

Jennessa Dunton was 2-for-2, and Katelyn Vance went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Western.

Desert Oasis 17, Bonanza 2 — At Desert Oasis, Elsy Guzman went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs, and Jalyn Chao and Izriah Hodson each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Diamondbacks routed the Bengals in five innings.

Meaghan McInerney was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Hailey Jaramillo went 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis.

Ashlee McKenna was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Brianna Hernandez-Silva went 2-for-3 for Bonanza.

Needles 13, Laughlin 5 — At Needles, California, Preslee Murch went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs to power the Mustangs past the Cougars.

Valeri Vega had a triple and two RBIs for Needles.

Emilee Shilts went 3-for-4 with a double, and Ashley Jones went 4-for-4 for Laughlin.

Lake Mead 19-12, The Meadows 3-0 — At Tuscany Park, Josey White went 3-for-3 with two home runs, including a grand slam, and eight RBIs in the opener as the Eagles swept the Mustangs in a pair of five-inning games.

Jacea Tillman was 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs in the opener for Lake Mead.

Rachel Siegel went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for The Meadows.

In the nightcap, Lauryn Freund tossed a two-hitter to lead the Eagles to the win.

Kayla Freund and Bianca Carpenter each went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the finale for Lake Mead.

Indian Springs 16, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Faith Prine had four hits and five RBIs to help the Thunderbirds down the Jaguars in five innings.

Sadie Heath added two hits for Indian Springs.

Cassandra Bueno had three hits and three RBIs for Desert Pines.
