SOFTBALL: James throws no-hitter, Cougars top Wolves

Jillian James threw a five-inning no-hitter and was 4-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs to lift Coronado’s softball team to a 12-0 victory over host Basic on Thursday.

James struck out nine and walked Paige Blake leading off the bottom of the first inning. The Wolves’ only other baserunner came via an error.

Jaiden Johnson went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a solo homer, and Katie Dawson was 2-for-2 with a three-run shot for the Cougars.

Foothill 14, Del Sol 2 — At Foothill, Sarah Maddox went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a walk-off three-run homer, as the Falcons downed the Dragons in five innings.

Kelsey McFarland was 4-for-4 with a double, and RaeAnn Brems finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs as Foothill racked up 23 hits.

Jordan Corn and Daryan Meade each had a double for the Falcons.

Liberty 9, Eldorado 4 — At Liberty, Breanna Alvarez tossed a two-hitter to help the Patriots top the Sundevils.

Marisa Olmos, Felicia Rivera, Kylie Hefley and Kelsey Camat-Toki all went 2-for-4 for Liberty, which used a six-run fourth inning to erase a 3-2 deficit.

Centennial 15, Bonanza 1 — At Centennial, Heather Bowen was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs to help the Bulldogs roll past the Bengals in five innings.

Lauren Stroman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs for Centennial, which had 12 extra-base hits.

Maddie Jones went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out six, to get the win.

Bishop Gorman 11, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Ashley Witucki was 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Gaels’ five-inning win over the Diamondbacks.

Megan Coyle went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jasmine Gibson drove in two runs for Gorman.

Dayton Yingling threw a four-hitter with two strikeouts to get the win.

Shadow Ridge 13, Las Vegas 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Kate Dennis was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple as the Mustangs beat the Wildcats in five innings.

Joryan Brewer was 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Isabelle Scarale and Samantha Milanovich each added a pair of singles for Shadow Ridge, which scored six runs in the bottom of the first.

Scarale went the distance, allowing four hits, to get the win.

Faith Lutheran 7, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Mosie Foley spun a two-hitter and provided two two-run home runs to lift the Crusaders over the Desert Shields.

Alex Wright lashed a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and Vanessa Valdez finished 3-for-3 for Faith Lutheran.

Italy Mora slapped a two-run single in the fourth inning to provide Cheyenne’s only runs.

Pahrump Valley 14, Western 2 — At Western, Whitney Roderick threw a complete game with nine strikeouts and was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs to help the Trojans top the Warriors.

Amanda Pryor went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and teammate Darian Collin added a triple for Pahrump.

Western’s Brenda Sandoval was 3-for-3.

Mojave 22, Clark 8 — At Mojave, Danette Daguiar was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, four runs and four RBIs as the Rattlers outslugged the Chargers.

Vanessa Rojas supplied four hits, three runs and an RBI for Mojave, which got a win in the circle from Alejandra Victorio.

Valley 22, Desert Pines 0 — At Valley, Monique Beaudry was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, and Marissa Espinoza was 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs to lead the Vikings past the Jaguars in five innings.

Paige Tarr finished 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and Kianna Viernes added a double for Valley.

Kristina Manthei tossed a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts.

Needles 19-14, Mountain View 0-3 — At Needles, Brenna Chavez was a combined 5-for-6 with four doubles, eight RBIs and four stolen bases as the Mustangs swept a pair of five-inning games from the Saints.

Demi Limon pitched two complete games and struck out 14 batters total. She threw a one-hitter in the opener and then fired a four-hitter in the nightcap.

Amanda Estores had the Saints’ lone hit in the first game. Savannah Alley was 2-for-2 with a double in the second, and Elle Germany was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the nightcap for Mountain View.

The Meadows 15-18, Calvary Chapel 5-14 — At The Meadows, Missy Siegel went 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs in the opener and 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Lions.

Kathy Bond was 1-for-2 with three runs in the first game, and Amanda Hanson was 3-for-6 with a double and three runs in the second game for The Meadows.

Malia Lee went 2-for-3 with a run in the opener and 3-for-4 with a double and four runs in the finale for Calvary Chapel.
