SOFTBALL: Lesniak’s home run powers Cowboys past Miners

Nicole Lesniak went 3-for-3, including a tie-breaking two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning Tuesday to lead Chaparral’s softball team to a 4-2 home win over Sunrise Mountain.
Lesniak, who also doubled, tossed a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Tichina Savoy was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Lauren Lesniak went 2-for-4 for the Cowboys.
Boulder City 23, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Mikaela Brown tossed a five-inning perfect game, striking out 11 and getting three groundouts and a popout, to lead the Eagles by the Jaguars.
Brown also had two hits, including a double.
Charlene Masterson added two hits for Boulder City, which took advantage of 21 walks and eight hit batters.
Bishop Gorman 5, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Dayton Yingling spun a three-hitter to lead the Gaels over the Longhorns.
Sierra Mark and Jasmine Gibson each supplied three hits for Gorman, which used a three-run seventh inning to close it out.
Centennial 10, Cimarron-Memorial 5 — At Centennial, Savannah Horvath was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs by the Spartans.
Taylor Huntly was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Bailie Nelson was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Centennial. Heather Bowen was 2-for-4 for the Bulldogs.
Sarah Murphy went 3-for-3, and Kayla Johnson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Cimarron.
Desert Oasis 6, Bonanza 3 — At Desert Oasis, Shonda Badayos tossed a four-hitter and provided a double, a triple, and two RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks to victory over the Bengals.
C.J. Wilson went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Desert Oasis, which used a five-run fourth inning to pull away.
Ashley McKenna had an RBI double for Bonanza.
Foothill 10, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Aricia Dami and Palmer Bosanko each had two hits and two RBIs as the Falcons topped the Sundevils in six innings.
Gabby Canibeyaz added two hits, and Lauren Penksa had two RBIs for Foothill.
Sarah Penksa tossed a six-hitter, striking out four for the Falcons.
Basic 18, Del Sol 7 — At Basic, Jessica Clifford was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as the Wolves routed the Dragons in five innings.
Josie Blackwell went 2-for-3 for Basic.
Coronado 17, Liberty 1— At Liberty, winning pitcher Danielle Amato stroked a double and a triple, and Jaiden Johnson hit an inside-the-park home run as the Cougars routed the Patriots in six innings.
Moapa Valley 15, Virgin Valley 3 — At Overton, Makendie Frei tossed a five-inning two-hitter as the Pirates routed the Bulldogs.
Hanna Leavitt went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and Haley Nielson added two hits and an RBI for Moapa Valley.
Pahranagat Valley 17, Lake Mead 7 — At Alamo, Traci Strong went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and winning pitcher Kennedy Huntsman had an RBI double as the Panthers routed the Eagles in five innings.
Monica Heredia was 2-for-2 with three runs for Pahranagat Valley.
Taylor Vetter went 2-for-2 with a triple for Lake Mead.
Calvary Chapel 7-23, Pahrump Valley JV 17-19 — At West Flamingo Park, Maddison Petrelli homered twice in the opener and once in the nightcap to help the Lions earn a split with Pahrump’s junior varsity.
Calvary Chapel trailed 12-0 in the third inning of the second game before scoring the next 22 runs.
Noelle Miller was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Alisa Barry went 3-for-5 with four RBIs in the second game for Calvary Chapel.
