SOFTBALL: Loving’s monster game lifts Gators over Spartans

Samantha Loving tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven Thursday to help host Green Valley’s softball team to an 11-2 win over Cimarron-Memorial.

Loving also had a home run, a double and two RBIs for Green Valley, which got two doubles and four RBIs from Autumn Owens.

Sarah Murphy was 2-for-3 for Cimarron.

Coronado 2, Palo Verde 1 — At Palo Verde, the Cougars scored both of their runs on a throwing error off a sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning, and held on to beat the Panthers.

Danielle Amato tossed a seven-hitter for the Cougars.

Kylie Harrison went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Palo Verde.

Desert Oasis 5, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Desert Oasis, Sammantha Caruso hit a go-ahead bases-loaded triple to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Diamondbacks by the Trojans.

May Dacquel was 1-for-3 with a double, and Elsy Guzman went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Desert Oasis, which trailed 3-1 before scoring four runs in the sixth. Caruso finished 2-for-3.

Whitney Roderick was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Amanda Pryor had two doubles for Pahrump.

Centennial 7, Arbor View 2 — At Arbor View, Allison Riggs was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to help the Bulldogs top the Aggies.

Angel Love went 2-for-2 with a triple and a double for Centennial.

Kayla Stephens was 3-for-4 with a double, and Dacia Sykes went 2-for-4 for Arbor View.

Virgin Valley 8, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Mesquite, Tylee Robison had two doubles, and the Bulldogs used a four-run fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie and top the Miners.

Emma Barnum added two hits for Virgin Valley.

Jessica Gomez had two hits for Sunrise Mountain.

Rancho 7, Monache (Calif.) 2 — At Fresno, Calif., winning pitcher Samantha Pochop went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Rams to a win in the Washington Union Invitational.

McKinzi Vega added a solo home run, and Jacey Kelley went 1-for-4 with a double for Rancho.

Rancho 10, Washington Union (Calif.) 1 — At Fresno, Calif., Sammi Llamas went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Rams past the host school in the Washington Union Invitational.

Brandy Marlett was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Vega went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Rancho. Megan Sloan was 2-for-3 for the Rams.

Silverado 10, Sierra Vista 4 — At Sierra Vista, Madison Sisco and Arieana Monturio each had two doubles to lift the Skyhawks over the Mountain Lions.

Sierra Vista’s Kalei Watkins went 3-for-4.

Bishop Gorman 12, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, winning pitcher Dayton Yingling struck out five in four scoreless innings and belted a two-run home run to lead the Gaels by the Crusaders in five innings.

Shelby Estocado was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Megan Coyle added a two-run triple for Gorman.

Vanessa Valdez went 2-for-2 for Faith Lutheran.

Valley 12, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Kristina Manthei went 4-for-4, and the Vikings took advantage of eight errors by the Dragons to win in five innings.

Nicki Zuniga was 2-for-3 with a double for Del Sol.

Moapa Valley 16, Chaparral 4 — At Overton, Haley Nielsen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Pirates routed the Cowboys in five innings.

Cymoni Cooper was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Bailey Owens and Liz Robertson each went 2-for-4 for Moapa Valley.

Spring Valley 13, Bonanza 0 — At Bonanza, Raven Bierlein tossed a five-inning four-hitter with six strikeouts to propel the Grizzlies to victory over the Bengals.

Mariah Ward was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Spring Valley, which used a seven-run third inning to pull away.

Ashlee McKenna was 2-for-2, and Raquell Hoyes went 2-for-3 for Bonanza.

Tech 26, Desert Pines 0 — At Anthem Hills Park, Ashley Ramsey was 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and the Roadrunners took advantage of 12 walks and 10 hit batters to rout the Jaguars in five innings.

Kimmie Rodriguez added two hits and two RBIs, and Megan Thomas had four RBIs for Tech, which got three RBIs from Jasmine Ramos.

Gizele Cascos and Thomas combined on a two-hitter for Tech.
