SOFTBALL: Macie Howard leads Lincoln County over Lake Mead

Macie Howard went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI on Thursday to lead Lincoln County’s softball team to an 11-1 victory over Lake Mead in the Class 2A Southern League tournament at Mountain View.
Kia Phillips was 2-for-4 with two runs, and Kristal Jackson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI for the Lynx, who scored five runs in the sixth inning to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Josey White was 2-for-3 for the Eagles, who committed nine errors.
Needles rolled to a 15-0 win over Laughlin in Thursday’s other game.
Laughlin (13-11-1) plays Lake Mead (12-8) in an elimination game at noon on Friday. Needles (21-3) plays Lincoln County (21-7) at 2:30 p.m., with the loser of that game facing the Laughlin-Lake Mead winner at 5 p.m.
Class 1A
Indian Springs edged visiting Round Mountain 8-7 to move into the winners’ bracket of the Class 1A Southern League tournament.
The Thunderbirds (12-9) face Pahranagat Valley (25-4) at noon on Friday. The Panthers advanced with a 16-4 win over Tonopah on Thursday.
The Muckers (12-9-2) play Round Mountain (12-8-1) in an elimination game at 2:15 p.m., with the winner of that game facing the Pahranagat Valley-Indian Springs loser at 4:30 p.m.
