SOFTBALL: MacKenzie Perry’s RBI single breaks tie in sixth as Rams defeat Wildcats

MacKenzie Perry’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie as Rancho’s softball team downed visiting Las Vegas 4-2 on Monday.
Arienn Ackerman tied the game in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run triple for Las Vegas.
Sam Pochop allowed two runs on two hits and struck out 17 to earn the win for Rancho.
Gianna Carosone went 1-for-1 with a triple, an RBI, two walks and a stolen base, and Yvette Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a double for Rancho.
Melina Fabian went 1-for-3 with a double for the Wildcats.
Liberty 12, Foothill 5 — At Foothill, Breanna Alvarez went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead the Patriots past the Falcons.
Morgan LaNeve was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Marisa Olmos went 2-for-4 with three runs for Liberty.
Cali Christopher and Ashleigh Rodriguez each added two hits and two runs for the Patriots, and teammate Jessica Meza had a home run and two RBIs.
Caitlyn Stevenson went 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, three RBIs and two runs to lead Foothill.
Haleigh Olive, Kylie Becker, Sadie Christian and Jocelyn Shupp each added two hits for the Falcons.
Chaparral 15, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Sunrise Mountain, Losi Brown went 4-for-4 with a double, three triples and three RBIs to lead the Cowboys past the Miners.
Brown also fanned seven over seven innings to pick up the win for Chaparral.
Sierra Shaw also doubled for the Cowboys.
Silverado 12, Valley 2 — At Silverado, Jaime Gonzalez finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Skyhawks cruised to a five-inning victory over the Vikings.
Arika Rosales went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Alycia Kobashigawa struck out four over four innings to earn the win for Silverado.
Heather Robinson was 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI for Valley.
Green Valley 10, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Katrina Ramos went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI to help the Gators to the six-inning win over the Sundevils.
Olivia McClain was 2-for-4 with three runs, and Jalen Jones was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Gators. Cinthia Garcia and Brooke Haney each drove in two runs for Green Valley.
Andrea Mason threw four shutout innings with four strikeouts to get the win.
Bishop Gorman 20, Bonanza 4 — At Bonanza, Reyna Martin went 5-for-5 to lead the Gaels past the Bengals in five innings.
Hannah Gondini and Brianna Spizzuco each went 3-for-4, and Alyssa Rueda went 2-for-2 for the Gaels. Mallory Greenwood struck out six to pick up the win.
Sara Riley hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead the Bengals. Desiree Cruz also doubled for Bonanza.
Spring Valley 18, Clark 0 — At Spring Valley, Madison Hood struck out three in a one-hitter and hit a double, and the Grizzlies scored 15 runs in the first inning en route to a three-inning victory.
Chryshelle Abril-Ryan also hit a double for Spring Valley.
Sharon Vernaz had Clark’s lone hit.
Coronado 19, Canyon Springs 0 — At Coronado, Ashley Ward spun a three-inning no-hitter as the Cougars routed the Pioneers.
Ward struck out eight with one walk.
Tatum Spangler was 1-for-1 with a home run and four RBIs for Coronado. Her three-run homer highlighted a 17-run first inning.
Taylor Okamura was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Marissa Kopp went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Cougars.
Needles 14, Mohave Accelerated (Ariz.) 13 — At Bullhead City, Arizona, Brenna Chavez went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Mustangs over the Patriots.
Jaycee Fragoso went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for Needles, and teammate Nicole Hooper had four RBIs.
