SOFTBALL: Marlett throws five-hitter as Rams wrap up league title

Brandy Marlett tossed a five-hitter and struck out eight Tuesday to help Rancho’s softball team wrap up the Northeast League title with a 5-2 home win over Green Valley.

Marlett went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Tori Hafen was 2-for-2 for the Rams.

Samantha Loving had a two-run single for Green Valley.

Moapa Valley 10, Sunrise Mountain 9 — At Sunrise Mountain, Haley Nielsen and winning pitcher Makendie Frei each went 2-for-4 with a double as the Pirates held off the Miners.

Moapa Valley took a 9-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Miners cut the deficit to 9-7 entering the seventh.

Brianna Twyman went 2-for-2, and Natalie Sharp had two hits for Sunrise Mountain, which got two RBIs from Alexus Aragon.

Virgin Valley 9, Chaparral 3 — At Chaparral, Emma Barnum was 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Bulldogs defeated the Cowboys.

Janela Fiso was 2-for-3, and Accasia Berg added a two-run double for Virgin Valley.

Vanessa Donham and Monica Ramirez each had two hits for Chaparral.

Arbor View 13, Durango 3 — At Arbor View, Letty Valenzuela-Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to help the Aggies top the Trailblazers in six innings.

Ashlyn Ames tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs, and Bryce Henricksen was 2-for-3 for Arbor View.

Kaitlyn O’Hearn had two doubles for Durango.

Shadow Ridge 11, Spring Valley 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Tana Feiner spun a three-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Mustangs routed the Grizzlies in five innings.

Feiner tripled, singled and had three runs for Shadow Ridge, which scored seven runs in the second inning to take control.

Martinece Robertson had an RBI single for Spring Valley.

Palo Verde 14, Sierra Vista 1 — At Sierra Vista, Kelsea Sweeney spun a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts to help the Panthers secure the Northwest League title with a five-inning win over the Mountain Lions.

Melissa Lacro was 2-for-2 with a triple and six RBIs, and Haley Harrison supplied two hits for Palo Verde.

Kalei Watkins had an RBI single for Sierra Vista.

Boulder City 15, Tech 0 — At Anthem Hills Park, Charlene Masterson tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven as the Eagles clinched the Sunrise League title with a five-inning win over the Roadrunners.

Masterson was 2-for-4 with two triples and four RBIs, and Kaila Davis was 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Silverado 18, Las Vegas 1 — At Las Vegas, Arieana Monturio went 4-for-5 with a double, and Madison Sisco was 2-for-5 with a home run and a double as the Skyhawks routed the Wildcats in five innings.

Korina Pindel was 3-for-5 with two doubles for Silverado, and teammate Gabby Santiago tossed a four-hitter.

Bethany Connell had two hits for Las Vegas.

Valley 20, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Kianna Viernes had a three-run homer as the Vikings routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Kristina Manthei tossed a three-hitter for Valley.

Mojave 23, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Vanessa Rojas had five hits and two RBIs as the Rattlers pulled away from the Jaguars.

Danette Daguiar added four hits, including a triple and a double, and three RBIs, and Jordan Battle tripled and doubled for Mojave.

Mikee Medrano and Yuri Cardenas each had two hits for Desert Pines.

Canyon View (Utah) 10, Bishop Gorman 3 — At Gorman, Kaitlyn Delange homered to lead the Falcons by the Gaels.

Gorman’s Kasey Billadeau was 2-for-3 with a double, and Sierra Dias was 2-for-3 for the Gaels.

Lincoln County 11, Pahranagat Valley 3 — At Alamo, Chelsea Lloyd tossed a no-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Lynx by the Panthers.

Easton Tingey and Jaycee Wadsworth each went 3-for-5 with a double, and Kayla Matthews was 3-for-4 for Lincoln County.

Sandy Valley 18-14, Beaver Dam (Ariz.) 6-4 — At Sandy Valley, the Sidewinders swept a pair of five-inning games from the Diamondbacks.
