SOFTBALL: Martinez hits walk-off single to lift Mountain Lions

Sierra Martinez singled home Kalei Watkins with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday to lift Sierra Vista’s softball team to a 7-6 home win over Green Valley.

The Mountain Lions, who trailed 6-0 after three innings, pulled to within 6-4 going into the seventh and used five singles in the seventh to pull out the win.

Watkins was 2-for-3 with a triple and tossed a complete game with 14 strikeouts. Alyssa Lewis was 2-for-3 with a double, and Brendee Ford had two hits and two RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Tara Hilton had an inside-the-park home run and four RBIs, and Jinger Meuir had two hits, including a triple, and two runs for the Gators.

Moapa Valley 13, Tech 8 — At Rodeo Park, Kinlee Marshall went 3-for-5 with a double, and the Pirates battled back from a 5-2 first-inning deficit to top the Roadrunners.

Devony Cooper was 2-for-4 for Moapa Valley.

Avery Rayos was 3-for-5 for Tech, which got two hits apiece from Melissa Fuller, Megan Thomas and Julia Lopez.

Boulder City 12, Chaparral 2 — At Boulder City, Alyssa Ybarra and Bryanna Lopez each had two hits, and the Eagles took advantage of 10 walks and six errors to down the Cowboys in five innings.

Charlene Masterson tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Boulder City, which scored eight runs in the second inning.

Bishop Gorman 13, Durango 3 — At Gorman, Monique Passalacqua was 4-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Gaels by the Trailblazers in six innings.

Sierra Dias was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Megan Coyle, Hannah Gondini and Ashley Witucki each went 2-for-4 for Gorman.

Mallory Lawson, Alia Armstrong and Kaitlyn O’Hearn each went 2-for-4 for Durango.

Palo Verde 19, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, Kelsea Sweeney and Haylee Lupinetti combined on a five-hitter as the Panthers routed the Longhorns in five innings.

Allyson Snelling was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs for Palo Verde, which used a 10-run third inning to pull away.

Alyssa Gastelum and Eliza Rodriguez each supplied a RBI single for Legacy.

Silverado 23, Valley 9 — At Valley, Alessandra Ponce was 4-for-4 with a three-run home run and four runs scored as the Skyhawks outslugged the Vikings in five innings.

Winning pitcher Gabby Santiago went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs for Silverado, which got three hits, two runs and two RBIs from Brandi Splinter.

Shannon Williams finished 2-for-3 with a solo homer for Valley, which got two hits each from Baylee Wieslander and Gabriella Morales.

Liberty 12, Canyon Springs 0 — At Liberty, McKenna Hefley went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs as the Patriots blanked the Pioneers in five innings.

Soraya Rodrigues-Seumalo fired a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts for Liberty, which led 9-0 after two innings.

Las Vegas 20, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, winning pitcher Samantha Taylor had three hits to lead the Wildcats by the Bengals in five innings.

Melina Fabian added two hits, including a double, and an RBI, and Melody Sapien and Skylar Gorrell each had two hits for Las Vegas, which scored 11 runs in the third inning.

Sarah Selbach-Fetting doubled and drove in a run for Bonanza.

Del Sol 20, Desert Pines 4 — At Desert Pines, Noa Bowie went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double, three runs and four RBIs to lead the Dragons by the Jaguars in five innings.

Alina Marruffo was 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs and four RBIs, and Jazmine Rivera went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs for Del Sol.

Mikee Medrano was 3-for-3, and Maria Gaspar went 2-for-3 for Desert Pines.

Sunrise Mountain 11, Virgin Valley 5 — At Mesquite, winning pitcher Andrea Garner belted a three-run home run in the fifth inning to lift the Miners by the Bulldogs.

Calvary Chapel 9, Sandy Valley 1 — At West Flamingo Park, Meghan Phillips threw a two-hitter with 18 strikeouts to lead the Lions by the Sidewinders.

Justyne Boggio went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Monica Mejorada was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Calvary Chapel, which also got three hits from Noelle Miller.

Esmeralda Madrid had both of Sandy Valley’s hits.

Needles 14, Laughlin 0 — At Laughlin, Brenna Chavez was 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to help power the Mustangs by the Cougars in five innings.

Nicole Hooper had three hits, and Preslee Murch provided two doubles and an RBI for Needles, which got two hits from Kaci Rodriguez.

Rodriguez tossed a one-hitter for Needles.

Lincoln County 13, Pahranagat Valley 1 — At Panaca, Cameron Lloyd hit two home runs, including a game-ending three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Lynx topped the Panthers.

Easton Tingey homered and doubled, and Sadie Butler went 3-for-4 for Lincoln County, which also got a home run from Drew Cardinal.

Maranatha (Calif.) 20, Lake Mead 0 — At Tuscany Park, the Minutemen routed the Eagles.

Mountain View 11, Faith Lutheran JV 7 — At Mountain View, Nia Van Kempen provided two hits and three RBIs to power the Saints past the Crusaders’ junior varsity.

Elle Germany had two hits and two RBIs for Mountain View, which scored 10 runs in the first two innings before holding on.
