SOFTBALL: Penksa, Falcons blank visiting Rams

Sarah Penksa spun a four-hitter Tuesday to lead host Foothill’s softball team to a 3-0 win over Rancho.

Penksa struck out just one, but got all the run support she needed when the Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the first inning.

Alexia Campbell was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and two RBIs for Foothill, and teammate Hannah Stevens went 2-for-3.

Coronado 9, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Sarah Pinkston tossed a two-hitter and went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs as the Cougars clinched the Southeast League title with a win over the Gators.

Alexis Okamura was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Tatum Spangler was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Coronado.

Jinger Meuir was 1-for-2 with a stolen base for Green Valley.

Basic 4, Eldorado 3 — At Basic, Lexi Edmunds doubled home Jessica Clifford with the tie-breaking run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Wolves by the Sundevils.

Edmunds, who was 2-for-4 with two doubles, collected the winning hit after Clifford reached on an error.

Alyssa Ferguson and Courtney Huff each went 2-for-3 for Basic.

Jonna White and Madalyn Bonilla each went 2-for-3 with a run for Eldorado.

Pahrump Valley 11, Mojave 1 — At Pahrump, Jordan Egan homered, doubled and singled to help the Trojans down the Rattlers in five innings.

Maddisson Hurley added three singles, and Lauren Koenig had two singles for Pahrump.

Amanda Pryor tossed a two-hitter with four strikeouts for the Trojans.

Sierra Vista 12, Clark 0 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and combined with Alyssa Lewis on a five-inning one-hitter as the Mountain Lions clinched the Sunset League title with a win over the Chargers.

Harmony Dominguez was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and four RBIs, and Kira Felise was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Faith Lutheran 11, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Breanna Hemphill went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, and Samantha Jack was 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Crusaders beat the Desert Shields in six innings.

Makena Martin tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Cheyenne Kidd went 2-for-3 for Faith Lutheran.

Jonette Paddy hit a home run for Cheyenne.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Bonanza 1 — At Cimarron, Carmen Hasbrouck went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs as the Spartans downed the Bengals in five innings.

Ciara Karpinski was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Sumeko Tipton went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for Cimarron.

Brianna Hernandez-Silva was 3-for-3 for Bonanza.

Spring Valley 11, Western 0 — At Western, Madison Hood tossed a five-inning one-hitter as the Grizzlies blanked the Warriors.

Madison Macove was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Michaela Hood went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Pahranagat Valley 6, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Sunrise Mountain, Brook Higbee scored on Madison Harris’ one-out grounder to shortstop to break a 5-5 tie in the top of the seventh inning and lift the Panthers by the Miners.

Higbee, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, led off the seventh with an infield hit, moved to second on Jade Jewett’s grounder to the pitcher and stole third before scoring on Harris’ ground ball.

Andrea Garner went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Shyloh Lucero had two hits and an RBI for Sunrise Mountain.

Lake Mead 8-34, The Meadows 22-19 — At The Meadows, Josey White went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, six runs and four RBIs in the nightcap as the Eagles rallied to earn a split with the Mustangs.

Bianca Carpenter was 3-for-6 with a double and six RBIs in the second game for Lake Mead, which scored 11 runs in the sixth inning and 12 in the seventh.

Missy Siegel was 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs for The Meadows.

In the opener, Amanda Hansen went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to lead the Mustangs to a five-inning win. Siegel was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for The Meadows.

Mountain View 6-9, Calvary Chapel 5-7 — At Mountain View, Elle Germany went a combined 4-for-8 with three doubles and five RBIs in the Saints’ sweep of the Lions.

Germany went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the opener and had two doubles and an RBI in the second game.

Savannah Alley pitched complete games in both games and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in the second game. She also had a triple in the opener for Mountain View.

Meghan Phillips, who pitched two complete games for Calvary Chapel, went 3-for-3 in the first game and added a home run in the second game.
