SOFTBALL: Pochop fans 15 as Rams shut out Aggies

Samantha Pochop tossed a one-hitter and struck out 15 on Friday to lead host Rancho’s softball team to a 3-0 win over Arbor View.

The Rams did all of their scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning. Yvette Sanchez, Kayla Coles and Gianna Carosone singled to load the bases. Consecutive bunts by McKinzi Vega and Pochop plated the first two runs, and Jahnae Davis-Houston tacked on an RBI single.

Coles was 2-for-3 for Rancho.

Eldorado 8, Mojave 7 — At Mojave, Jonna White’s two-run double plated the go-ahead run in a four-run seventh inning that lifted the Sundevils by the Rattlers.

White was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Sierra Padilla went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Eldorado. Dayzhell Wilson was 2-for-3, and Heather Holman and Jazmine Sorchini each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Sundevils.

Emilee Mitton was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Jessica Ortiz was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Mojave.

Desert Oasis 7, Valley 4 — At Valley, Justine Tadeo-Corpuz was 2-for-3 and scored three runs to lead the Diamondbacks by the Vikings.

Meagan Anders was 1-for-2 with two runs for Desert Oasis.

Kristina Manthei went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, and Jaeda Burnett went 2-for-3 for Valley.

Coronado 9, Durango 4 — At Durango, Basia Query was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Cougars by the Trailblazers.

Brooke Younie was 2-for-4 for Coronado.

Mallory Lawson had an RBI double, and Alexis Geraldo homered for Durango.

Sunrise Mountain 8, Tech 7 — At Rodeo Park, winning pitcher Andrea Garner’s sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning plated Brittany Miller with the eventual winning run as the Miners topped the Roadrunners.

Arieonna Herrera added two hits for Sunrise Mountain, which battled back from a 6-2 fourth-inning deficit.

Gizele Cascos was 2-for-4 with two doubles for Tech. Avery Rayos added two hits, including a solo home run, for the Roadrunners, and teammate Haylee Makue-Vasconcellos also delivered two hits.

Liberty 11, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Liberty, Breanna Alvarez tossed a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and was 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and six RBIs to lead the Patriots by the Spartans in six innings.

Kelsey Camat-Toki also went 4-for-4 with a double and a triple, and Ashleigh Rodriguez was 2-for-4 for Liberty.

Silverado 13, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Hanna McCall tossed allowed seven hits in five innings and went 4-for-4 to lead the Skyhawks past the Grizzlies.

Sarah Ford went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and Alessandra Ponce went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for Silverado.

Boulder City 15, Del Sol 0 — At Boulder City, Jordan Moorhead tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out six as the Eagles blanked the Dragons.

Charlene Masterson hit a two-run homer, and Lauren Axelson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Boulder City.

Chaparral 20, Desert Pines 9 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Losi Brown went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, three runs and four RBIs as the Cowboys topped the Jaguars in five innings.

Crystal Clark was 4-for-5 with a home run and a double, and Tabitha Mabry went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Maiya Richardson and Salma Ponce each went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Desert Pines.

Moapa Valley 6, Virgin Valley 1 — At Overton, Devony Cooper and Kinlee Marshall each went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Pirates top the Bulldogs.

Daesha Stastny scattered eight hits and struck out seven to get the win.

Emma Barnum was 2-for-4 for Virgin Valley.

Faith Lutheran 17, Bonanza 3 — At Faith Lutheran, Samantha Jack was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Cheyenne Kidd went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI as the Crusaders routed the Bengals in five innings.

Winning pitcher Makena Martin went 3-for-4 with a run, and teammate Ryleigh Gilchrist was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Breanna Hemphill went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.

Caitlyn Lloyd and Sarah Selbach-Fetting each went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Bonanza.

The Meadows 4-16, Laughlin 16-15 — At Laughlin, Noelle Young went 5-for-5 with a double, three runs and four RBIs in the nightcap as the Mustangs managed a split with the Cougars.

Winning pitcher Missy Siegel was 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs, and Rachel Siegel, Caroline Liu and Braxton Cobb each added three hits in the finale for The Meadows.

Lori Morgan went 3-for-5 with a grand slam, and Laughlin used a 14-run third inning to win the opener in five innings.

Lincoln County 18-8, Needles 6-0 — At Needles, Calif., Aspen Wilkin hit two home runs and had six RBIs in the opener and tossed a three-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts in the nightcap to lead the Lynx to a sweep of the Mustangs.

Easton Tingey went 3-for-5 with three doubles, and Chesnee Harding homered in the first game for Lincoln County, which won in six innings.

In the nightcap, Wilkin was 3-for-4, and Tingey doubled twice for the Lynx.

Agassi Prep 32, Lake Mead 19 — At Tuscany Park, the Stars outslugged the Eagles.

Josey White had three home runs and nine RBIs, and Kayla Freund added two hits and two RBIs for Lake Mead.

Indian Springs 14-18, Sandy Valley 2-2 — At Indian Springs, Heather Thormahlen tossed a six-inning two-hitter in the opener and combined with Aspen Avery on a five-inning one-hitter in the nightcap as the Thunderbirds swept the Sidewinders.

Thormahlen struck out 12 and belted a grand slam in the first game. Kayla Noyes was 2-for-2 in the first game for Indian Springs.

Cheyanne Noyes went 3-for-3 with a double, and the Thunderbirds used a 12-run first inning to pull away in the finale.

Pahranagat Valley 22-20, Beaver Dam 2-1 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Kaitlyn Davis tossed a one-hitter and went 5-for-5 with a double and five RBIs in the opener as the Panthers swept a pair of five-inning games from the Diamondbacks.

Ashlyn Wadsworth spun a one-hitter and went 4-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs in the nightcap for Pahranagat Valley. Madison Harris was 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and six RBIs in the second game for the Panthers.

White Pine 14-13, Mountain View 2-2 — At Ely, Debra Kingston was 3-for-3 with a double and a homer in the second game to help the Bobcats complete the sweep of the Saints.

Shania Hall threw a three-hitter to get the win in the second game.

McKenna Windous threw a four-hitter in the first game to lead White Pine.

Mountain View’s Savannah Alley struck out 10 with no walks in the opener.
