SOFTBALL: Rivera, Pioneers edge Chaparral in seventh

Tea Rivera scored on Gabi Burgara’s grounder to second with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to lift Canyon Springs’ softball team to a 6-5 home win over Chaparral.
Rivera, who was 3-for-4 with three runs, singled to start the seventh. She went to second on a wild pitch and stole third.
Burgara was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Pioneers, who were 1-18 last season.
Brittney DeGraff went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for the Cowboys.
Rancho 17, Tech 0 — At Rancho, Gianna Carosone threw a five-inning perfect game with seven strikeouts to lead the Rams past the Roadrunners.
Carosone also went 3-for-3 with three triples. Alisa Blevins went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer, and Yvette Sanchez was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Rancho, which got three RBIs from Kayla Coles.
Arbor View 10, Foothill 6 — At Mesquite, Kellie Anderson went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Aggies topped the Falcons in the Desert Winds Classic.
Marissa Bachman went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Kayla Stephens was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Arbor View, which trailed 5-1 after three innings.
Alexia Campbell had a home run and a double for Foothill.
Centennial 10, Sierra Vista 0 — At Centennial, Lina Barrera was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs as the Bulldogs downed the Mountain Lions in six innings via the mercy rule.
Maddie Jones tossed a four-hitter and struck out three, and teammate Kara Simpson went 2-for-3 with a double for Centennial, which scored five runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead.
Sierra Vista’s Kalei Watkins had two singles.
Sunrise Mountain 7, Western 3 — At Sunrise Mountain, winning pitcher Andrea Garner was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI to lead the Miners by the Warriors.
Brittany Miller was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Sunrise Mountain, which put up five runs in the second inning to pull away.
Jennessa Dunton was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI for Western.
Cheyenne 15, Spring Creek 6 — At Mesquite, Italy Mora doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Diamondbacks by the Spartans in four innings in the Desert Winds Classic.
Victoria Rosales added a double for Cheyenne, which scored 12 runs in the first inning.
Lowry 18, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, the Buckaroos routed the Bulldogs in four innings in the Desert Winds Classic.
