SOFTBALL: Robinson’s homer sparks 13th-inning rally for Grizzlies

Martinece Robertson’s two-run home run in the top of the 13th inning Monday broke a 2-2 tie and helped Spring Valley’s softball team to a 7-2 win at Durango.

Michaela Hood added a three-run homer later in the 13th for the Grizzlies, who led 2-1 entering the sixth inning before the Trailblazers’ Kaitlyn O’Hearn homered to tie the game.

Robertson was 3-for-6, and Mariah Ward and Raven Bierlein each went 3-for-7 for Spring Valley.

Hood struck out 17 in 12 innings of work.

Durango’s Dallas Boyce went the distance, also striking out 17.

Sierra Vista 1, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Mountain Lions by the Mustangs.

Taylor DeGuzman’s RBI triple in the second inning provided the game’s only run. DeGuzman finished 2-for-3.

Maraya Lindo was 2-for-3 with a triple for the Mustangs. Shadow Ridge’s Tana Feiner spun a three-hitter and struck out seven.

Palo Verde 4, Arbor View 3 — At Arbor View, Haley Harrison scored the go-ahead run on an error in the fifth inning to help push the Panthers by the Aggies.

Breanna Beatty doubled in the fifth inning, and Harrison followed with an RBI single. Harrison advanced to second, moved to third on an overthrow and scored on another wild throw.

Beatty was 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Kiley Harrison went 2-for-4 for Palo Verde.

Ashlyn Ames was 2-for-3 with two doubles for Arbor View.

Cheyenne 12, Moapa Valley 1 — At Overton, Brittany Leeds pitched a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks to lead the Desert Shields by the Pirates.

Courtney Gain was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Italy Mora went 3-for-3 for Cheyenne. Leeds drove in three runs for the Desert Shields.

Virgin Valley 6, Tech 4 — At Overton, Maggie Dobbs’ RBI single brought home the go-ahead run in a four-run sixth inning that lifted the Bulldogs over the Roadrunners.

Winning pitcher Becca Bramlage went 2-for-3 with a double.

Emmalyne Laymon went 2-for-4 with a double, and Ashley Ramsey was 2-for-4 for Tech.

Rancho 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Jacey Kelley, Katerina Anthony and Kayla Coles combined on a five-inning one-hitter as the Rams routed the Pioneers.

Kelley went 2-for-2, and Coles had a solo home run for Rancho.

Silverado 8, Green Valley 5 — At Silverado, Jessica Chamberlain went 2-for-3 with a double, and the Skyhawks used a five-run fourth inning to top the Gators.

Madison Sisco was 2-for-4 for Silverado.

Samantha Loving was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley. Tara Hilton went 3-for-3, and Jinger Meuir was 3-for-4 for the Gators.

Las Vegas 5, Valley 3 — At Las Vegas, Cierra Turner was 2-for-4 with an RBI to help the Wildcats to victory over the Vikings.

Paulina Franco added a double and an RBI for Las Vegas, and Samantha Taylor threw a three-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win.

Boulder City 18, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, Kaila Davis was 3-for-3 with a three-run home run to lead the Eagles by the Cowboys in five innings.

Charlene Masterson was 4-for-4 with a double, and Mikaela Brown went 3-for-3 with a double for Boulder City.

Vanessa Donham was 1-for-2 with a solo home run for Chaparral.

Sunrise Mountain 13, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Brianna Twyman had three hits and four RBIs to help the Miners down the Jaguars in five innings.

Brittany Miller had three hits and an RBI for Sunrise Mountain.

Melissa Benford had two hits and an RBI for Desert Pines.
