SOFTBALL: Shadow Ridge holds off Centennial after two-run sixth

Caitlyn Covington went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, and Shelbi Denman struck out nine in a complete game to lead Shadow Ridge’s softball team to a 7-6 road win over Centennial on Tuesday.

Raelyn Kendall added a home run, and Shea Clements and Alisha Schultz each doubled for the Mustangs, who used a two-run sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie. Centennial scored one run in the bottom of the sixth but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Kiana Tate hit a home run, and Haylee Lupinetti went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Bulldogs. Rhea Paiva and Seanna Simpson each doubled, and Skyler Ball was 2-for-4 for Centennial.

Mojave 9, Cheyenne 3 — At Cheyenne, Emilee Mitton went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Rattlers defeat the Desert Shields.

Ta’Nyia Zeno tripled, and Larissa Lynn and Essence McRae each hit a double for Mojave, which trailed 2-1 after the first inning but rallied with two runs in the second. The Rattlers scored three runs in the fourth to pull away.

Victoria Rosales went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Cheyenne.

Cimarron-Memorial 16, Bonanza 3 — At Bonanza, Mya’Leah Bathea homered and drove in four runs, and the Spartans scored 15 runs in the last two innings to rally past the Bengals.

Diona Whitley was 3-for-5 with a double, and Tiarra Del Rosario went 3-for-4 for Cimarron, which scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

Evalynn Sandoval doubled for Bonanza.

Palo Verde 10, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Makall Whetten went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs and three RBIs to spark the Panthers to a five-inning win over the Crusaders.

Ally Snelling was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBIs, and Grace Chavez and Richmond Garcia each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Makena Martin tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts to earn the win.

Haley Jack, Audrey Kirsch and Grace Hornsby each singled for Faith Lutheran.

Sierra Vista 18, Spring Valley 2 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins was 4-for-4 with a double, home run and five RBIs, and Ryan Watkins went 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs to send the Mountain Lions past the Grizzlies.

Rosalia Nakayama was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four runs, and winning pitcher Jessica Schneider went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Sierra Vista, which scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to enact the run rule.

Teegan Teal was 2-for-2, and Camryn Vereen had an RBI triple to lead Spring Valley.

Arbor View 17, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Breanne Henricksen tossed a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts, and Lexi Province went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Aggies in a five-inning rout of the Longhorns.

Jordan Farrington, Hannah Hickstein and Brittany Henricksen each drove in two runs for Arbor View, which scored in every inning and finished with 14 hits.

Kiana Tung’s single in the third inning scored Angel Ortiz for Legacy’s lone run.

Desert Oasis 18, Bishop Gorman 2 — At Desert Oasis, Holly Severance homered and doubled, and the Diamondbacks scored 11 runs in the first inning on the way to a three-inning victory over the Gaels.

Elsy Guzman had a double and a triple for Desert Oasis, and teammate Meaghan McInerney added a double.

Paisley Garcia pitched all three innings to earn the victory.

Darian Pancirov and Monique Passalacqua each had a double for Gorman.

Durango 20, Clark 0 — At Clark, winning pitcher Trinity Valentine went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs to lead the Trailblazers to a three-inning rout of the Chargers.

Valentine, who didn’t allow a hit, fanned six and hit one batter.

Batterymate Alexis Geraldo was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Kaitlin Fazendin was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs for Durango.

Boulder City 17, Tech 0 — At Tech, Bailey Bennett-Jordan tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Ashley Wishard doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Eagles past the Roadrunners in four innings.

Marleena Mills and Ellie Ramsey each had two hits and two RBIs for Boulder City, which scored 13 runs in the second inning.

Western 21, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Nazelin Reyes hit a solo home run, and Gisela Cano tossed a one-hitter to help the Warriors down the Jaguars in three innings.

Allysa Rodriguez, Makalita Moeaki and Ellyson Reynada each had three hits for Western.

Mountain View 8-22, Beaver Dam 19-12 — At Mountain View, the Saints split a doubleheader with the Sidewinders.

In the nightcap, Fernanda Aguilar went 2-for-3 with five RBIs, and winning pitcher Miah Fields-Gibbens was 2-for-2 with four RBIs to lead Mountain View.

Lexii Frickberg went 2-for-4 for Beaver Dam.

In the opener, Beaver Dam’s Yesenia Ortega earned the win in the circle and tripled at the plate.

Fields-Gibbens went 3-for-3 with two triples and four RBIs to lead Mountain View.

Calvary Chapel 7, Sandy Valley 0 — At Sandy Valley, the Lions won by forfeit.
