SOFTBALL: Tapuala breaks tie, lifts Patriots over Spartans

Tiana Tapuala’s RBI double in the top of the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie on Friday and lifted Liberty’s softball team to a 6-4 win at Cimarron-Memorial.

Tapuala finished 2-for-4.

Rheanna Esparza was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Cimarron. Sarah Murphy went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Rosie Del Rosario went 3-for-3 with a double for the Spartans.

Pahrump Valley 6, Tech 0 — At Pahrump, Whitney Roderick tossed a two-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Trojans by the Roadrunners.

Roderick also had two hits, including a triple, and Kristal Kaiwi had a triple and three RBIs for Pahrump.

Mojave 12, Chaparral 8 — At Mojave, Danette Daguiar went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and the Rattlers used a seven-run fifth inning to down the Cowboys.

Winning pitcher Itzel Loera was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Mojave, which trailed 7-2 after four innings.

Boulder City 12, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Charlene Masterson threw a two-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Eagles by the Bengals.

Masterson was 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Jessica Embro went 3-for-5 for Bonanza, which scored 11 runs in the final three innings.

Western 12, Del Sol 7 — At Western, winning pitcher Brenda Sandoval doubled and drove in two runs as the Warriors downed the Dragons.

Belinda Sandoval doubled and tripled for the Warriors.

Jackelyn Gonzales had a double and three RBIs for the Dragons.

Shadow Ridge 13, Basic 1 — At Basic, Isabelle Scarale spun a five-inning five-hitter and struck out five without allowing an earned run as the Mustangs routed the Wolves.

Taylor Velarde went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Mustangs, and teammate Maria Miano had a double and two RBIs.

Clark 20, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Sara King went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs, and Antoinette Martinez-Tili was 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run as the Chargers routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Staci Thompson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four runs for Clark.

Anna Torres was 2-for-2 with a run, and Yuri Cardenas went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI for Desert Pines.

Pahranagat Valley 13-14, Sandy Valley 0-1 — At Alamo, Kennedy Huntsman spun a one-hitter with six strikeouts in the opener and a two-hitter with five strikeouts in the nightcap as the Panthers swept a pair of five-inning games from the Sidewinders.

Traci Strong was 2-for-2 with a double, and Brook Higbee went 2-for-2 in the first game for Pahranagat Valley. In the finale, Bailee Hosier and Jade Jewett each went 1-for-1, and the Panthers took advantage of nine walks and three hit batters.

Hunter Gonzales was 2-for-3 in the nightcap for Sandy Valley.
