SOFTBALL: Tate’s big day helps Bulldogs top Diamondbacks

Jaden Tate was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs on Tuesday to help host Centennial’s softball team hold off Desert Oasis, 9-7.

Kara Simpson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run, and Stephanie Day and Christina Cerrone each went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs, who scored two runs in each of the first four innings.

Karly Severance went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and two RBIs, and Gemma Perez was 3-for-3 for the Diamondbacks.

Arbor View 12, Cimarron-Memorial 7 — At Cimarron, Kayla Stephens was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and the Aggies used an eight-run fifth inning to rally by the Spartans.

Taylor Thomas went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Arbor View.

Rosie Del Rosario was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Cimarron.

Foothill 12, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Kayla King tossed a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Falcons by the Sundevils.

Megan Causey was 3-for-3 with a double, and Kaitlyn Enzweiler, Raquel Ritchie, Renee Ritchie and Sadie Christian added two hits apiece for Foothill, which scored seven runs in the second inning.

Coronado 13, Basic 1 — At Basic, Sarah Pinkston tossed a six-inning six-hitter and was 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs as the Cougars topped the Wolves.

Brooke Younie was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and Taylor Okamura went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI for Coronado.

Courtney Huff was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Basic.

Spring Valley 12, Mojave 1 — At Spring Valley, Halee Martinolich was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to help the Grizzlies top the Rattlers in five innings.

Marlena Adras was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Winning pitcher Madison Hood tossed a two-hitter and struck out six.

Sierra Vista 12, Cheyenne 2 — At Sierra Vista, winning pitcher Kalei Watkins belted a game-ending two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Mountain Lions downed the Desert Shields.

Watkins finished 3-for-4 with the homer, two doubles and six RBIs, and Harmony Dominguez was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Madison Hiu, Kira Felise and Sierra Martinez each added two hits for the Mountain Lions.

Victoria Rosales had two hits for Cheyenne.

Rancho 16, Green Valley 3 — At Green Valley, Gianna Carosone was 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple, four runs and two RBIs to power the Rams past the Gators in six innings.

Kayla Coles went 4-for-5 with two runs, and Jahnae Davis-Houston was 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs for Rancho, which scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to pull away.

Bailey Means finished 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Jacqueline Smith was 2-for-3 for Green Valley.

Faith Lutheran 16, Clark 6 — At Faith Lutheran, Cheyenne Kidd was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Crusaders by the Chargers in five innings.

Claire Peck was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three runs and an RBI, and Makena Martin went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.

Kyhara Evenson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Clark.

Pahrump Valley 26, Western 1 — At Western, Maddisson Hurley was 4-for-4 with a triple, and winning pitcher Amaya Mendoza belted a grand slam as the Trojans routed the Warriors in five innings.

Jordan Egan was 3-for-3 with a double, and Amanda Pryor was 3-for-3 for Pahrump, which scored eight runs in the first inning and 12 in the third.

Alexis Maeoki went 2-for-3 with a triple for Western.

Mountain View 21, Lake Mead 1 — At Mountain View, Elle Germany was 2-for-2 with a double and five RBIs to lead the Saints by the Eagles in five innings.

Savannah Alley went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Mountain View, which took advantage of 18 walks.

Alley tossed a five-hitter and struck out nine.

Calvary Chapel 24-10, The Meadows 6-7 — At The Meadows, Meghan Phillips was 2-for-3 in each game to help the Lions sweep the Saints in a pair of four-inning games.

Emily Mejorada and Raegan Graham each went 2-for-3 in the opener for Calvary Chapel.

Rachel Siegel was 2-for-3 in the first game for The Meadows.

Lincoln County 10, Pahranagat Valley 2 — At Alamo, Aspen Wilkin tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Lynx by the Panthers.
