NOTES: State champion Coronado sets pace for postseason honors in boys golf

Coronado’s boys golf team blew away the competition this season, eventually winning the first Class 4A state title in program history.
Accordingly, the Cougars also dominated postseason honors announced this week.
Coronado’s A.J. McInerney, Tad Darland and Christian Pate received All-Southern Nevada honors. No other school had multiple players on the team.
McInerney, a sophomore who shot 5-under-par 66 at TPC Las Vegas to finish with a two-day, 36-hole total of 134 to win the individual state championship, was named Sunrise Region player of the year.
McInerney, Darland, Pate and teammate Kenden Slattery also received first-team All-Sunrise and first-team All-Southeast League honors.
The All-Southern Nevada team is rounded out by Foothill’s Taylor Montgomery, Green Valley’s Ryan Green, Faith Lutheran’s Yuki Kato, Pahrump Valley’s Shane Lindemann and Arbor View’s Zane Thomas.
All-Sunrise honors also went to Montgomery, Green and Eldorado’s Giovanni Latty. Kato, who has signed with Xavier, was named Sunset player of the year.
Also on the All-Sunset team are Lindemann, Thomas, Desert Oasis’ Soungjae Baek and Niko Gonnella and Centennial’s Justin Palmquist and Greg Kerber.
