Palo Verde’s Ward collects two wins at Last Chance meet

Palo Verde senior Jeff Ward won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles Saturday in the boys Sunset Region Last Chance Meet at Desert Breeze.
Ward took the 50 in 22.57 seconds and the 100 in 50.05.
No team scores were kept in the event, which gives athletes a final chance to qualify for the region meet on May 15.
Cimarron-Memorial’s Chang Lin took the 200 freestyle in 1:53.78 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.37.
In the girls meet, The Meadows’ Jessie Barra was the only swimmer to win two events, taking the 100 backstroke in 1:03.1 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.35.
