ROUNDUP: Basic tops Las Vegas in boys swimming

Travis Taitano won a pair of events Saturday as Basic’s boys swim team beat Las Vegas 140-97 at Multi-Generational.

Taitano won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.1 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.1 to lead Basic.

Las Vegas’ Juan Carlos Lopez won the 200 freestyle (1:56.31) and 500 freestyle (5:18.6).

Boulder City 198, Foothill 86 — At Multi-Generational, Zane Grothe and Camron Walker each won two individual events as the Eagles topped the Falcons.

Grothe won the 100 butterfly (51.94) and 200 freestyle (1:45.06). Walker took the 200 individual medley (2:12.72) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.81).

Coronado 205, Tech 63 — At Multi-Generational, Evan Byrd won the 200 freestyle (1:52.78) and 500 freestyle (5:02.91) to help the Cougars top the Roadrunners.

Tech’s Johnny Funk won the 100 butterfly (52.55) and 100 backstroke (57.94).

Cheyenne 29, The Meadows 28 — At Municipal, The Meadows’ Jesse Richards won two of the three contested events but the Mustangs fell to Cheyenne.

Richards won the 50 freestyle (25.32) and 100 freestyle (58.21).

Eldorado 94, Valley 61 — At Municipal, Colt Thomas and Michael Quagge each took two individual events to lead the Sundevils past the Vikings.

Thomas won the 100 butterfly (1:09.62) and 200 individual medley (2:32.67). Quagge took the 100 backstroke (1:43.11) and 100 freestyle (1:11.35).

Valley’s Nicholas Freeman won the 50 freestyle (25.27) and 500 freestyle (6:22.96).

Spring Valley 139, Desert Oasis 92 — At Pavilion, Jesse Dwyer, Brett Beck and Dylan Wolf each won two individual events as the Grizzlies downed the Diamondbacks.

Dwyer won the 200 freestyle (1:52.78) and 200 individual medley (2:12.32). Beck took the 100 butterfly (58.16) and 100 backstroke (59.28). Wolf won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.97) and 500 freestyle (4:45.86).

Palo Verde 171, Bonanza 121 — At Desert Breeze, Gianni Sesto took the 200 individual medley (2:02.45) and 100 backstroke (56.13) to lead the Panthers past the Bengals.

Bishop Gorman 181, Faith Lutheran 72 — At Desert Breeze, the Gaels rolled behind Ryan Shovlin’s victories in the 200 individual medley (2:01.94) and 100 butterfly (56.54).

Faith Lutheran’s Ian Salvatierra won the 50 freestyle (23.31) and 500 freestyle (4:41.84).

Arbor View 167, Cimarron-Memorial 110 — At Pavilion, Brian Martinez won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke to lead the Aggies over the Spartans.

Martinez won the butterfly in 51 seconds and took the backstroke in 56.31.

Shadow Ridge 140, Centennial 135 — At Pavilion, Stuart Jacobson captured two events as the Mustangs edged the Bulldogs.

Jacobson won the 100 butterfly (53.31) and 200 individual medley (2:08.55).

Sierra Vista-Legacy — At Pavilion, Emile Maritz and Matt Rosenfeld each won twice as the Mountain Lions captured eight of the 11 events.

Team scores were unavailable.

Maritz won the 200 individual medley (2:12.25) and 500 freestyle (5:13.15). Rosenfeld took the 100 butterfly (58.12) and the 100 backstroke (57.65).

Legacy’s Sam Smedley won the 50 freestyle (24.97) and 100 freestyle (1:00.19).

Durango 165, Clark 114 — At Desert Breeze, Rob Eisendrath and Michael Torres each won two events to lead the Trailblazers over the Chargers.

Eisenberg won the 200 individual medley (2:10.74) and 100 backstroke (57.82). Torres was first in the 100 butterfly (58.27) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.36).

The Trailblazers also swept the relays.

Clark’s Adam Wong was first in the 50 freestyle (23.66) and 100 freestyle (54.13).
